Wowzer! I like this 2015 579 mx13. It's got over 400,000 miles just went out of warranty. Fuel economy seems very good. 7 to 8. If it were fine tuned it would do better. But I sure do love a series 60 it can achieve real good fuel economy when they are cared for.

    My other truck has a 515 S60 that gets 8mpg at 90k

Well lets just say i had mine ole school modified but its got 475,000 and ive had it 6 months and with the BS removed absolutely 0 problems. This truck might use a quart of oil within a 30,000 mile oil change which i still cant believe. This sucker is tight at half a million It just sux on larger hills, thats all.

Well im home daily so no idling. Run shingles out and deadback so empty half the time and if i do the eggshell thing and drive it with my big toe i still only average around 6.75 to 6.9. Thats not that good considering the deadhead and my gearing running 70 pretty much.

You might have the 2nd gen with high pressure fuel rail. I think thats the big difference on fuel mileage. I read they walk away frim 1st gen.

Far as I see people chatting they hate the first gen mx13. And the 2nd gen is way improved. This truck has an apu so I do not idle. Anything over 67mph on flat roads seems to decrease fuel mpg. Any head wind and fuel goes 5.5 to 6.5 mpg showing on dash. I am curious what a tuned mx 13 can do with all the crap removed. And I have saw many mechanic threads talking about how modern oil change interval is to much miles. Bottom end bearings are showing to much wear for the time on engines. That is something to think about.

Well mine has had all that done and tuned to 530 hp. Ist oil change after ridding the BS the oil was still black an hour later. Now on 2nd oil change about 18000 in and oil is still transparent gold. If this engine uses no oil at 475,000 after having emissions on it for 430,000 of that, i dont think a 30,000 oil change interval will hurt anything with the oil staying that clean. But as for the dash readout it probably isn’t accurate. If i do mine on paper right now im getting actually.25 to .5 better mpg than the readout shows.

You had the 455 up to 530? If so how is it now compared to before, I plan on going that route and up to 550
