Hey gang - I have a 12V amplifier I'd like to install on the truck. I've done it before on cars, but not a big rig. I know this may sound like a stupid question, but for the power line, which battery terminal post (below) should I connect to? I believe either of the two front + lines will work. But I want to be sure before hooking up anything. Appreciate the help!

Which post do I install an amplifier on?

Check google on "12 v batteries wired in series or parallel" for this kind of knowledge. None of us wants to get you hurt by a misunderstanding of ideas. Good luck

Truck batteries are not wired in series, they are in parallel so that they still give just 12 volts to the trucks electrical system. The extra batteries just add more available amps.
Even if they were in series every individual battery is still 12 volts so you could just hook up to the positive and negative of the same battery and get 12 volts.
If you are grounding the amp to the frame somewhere you can use any of the positive posts and be fine, just be sure to have a fuse in line close to the battery in case of a short in the wire or a fault in the amp.Last edited: May 17, 2016
Stachegravy Thanks this. -
To the best of my knowledge all electrical systems on trucks is 12 volts. It would be a huge help if more people understood the difference between a battery and a cell.

Appreciate the advice everyone. So it sounds like any of the 12V+ posts will work for the amp connection. Thanks a million!
