Finally got some action from the local WIA. (Anaheim, CA)
The case worker gave me three schools to check out:
California Truck Driving Academy, Orange CA
California Career School, Anaheim CA
United Truck Driving, Santa Ana CA
Anybody know anything good or bad about these schools?
I did a google map satellite and the only one with trucks in their lot
was California Career School. Hmm... thats Curious.
CTDA says on "all training done locally" and have pictures
of Mack's with 28' trailers on their website. They seem like a smaller outfit.
I don't know anything about CCS or Unitied though.
Thanks in advance.
Which School in Anaheim CA?

Don't know about the first choice, the United Truck Driving Co, you have only classroom in Santa Anna, you go to Riverside fort the driving parts, I did CCS in Anaheim, well satisfied, however, I drove for a few years, and got off the road 26 years ago, so it was a lot easier for me to pick up than someone who had never driven before.
As far as size of trailer, do you want to learn on a 28 footer and then get a long wheelbase tractor and a 53 foot trailer to go out on the road, learn on the big stuff and the toy trucks come easyClay13 Thanks this. -
I checked out California Truck Driving Academy and they said their practice range was close by. I know someone that rides their bike along the river trail near there and there is a truck practice range there, which is a couple of miles from their classroom. During conversation with the recruiter, they said they do not allow notes to be taken at all during classroom training, which I thought was curious. I went also to check out United in Santa Ana. If I were to go to a school, they would be my first choice. They've been in the business for something like 30 years, and CTDA has only been in business for a year or 2, I believe. Also, for another $250 and 3 days, they will give you training and use of a bus for your passenger endorsement if you want that....Also, as the above poster said, their range is in Riverside, CA and they take you to the San Bernardino Commercial Office to take your skills and road test. I'm still looking at options, but will go with United if my other options don't pan out.
Good luck with whatever you decide.Clay13 Thanks this.
