I got my class A CDL last December at a community college. Due to circumstances, I wasn't able to go straight away into a trucking job. Circumstances have changed and I'm ready to start my first trucking job. In the meantime, I've already gotten my hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples endorsements, passport, and TWIC card. My driving record is clean. Two weeks ago, I renewed my DOT physical. I have hypertension and type 2 diabetes both controlled by meds.

I live in southeast Georgia near I-95 & 1-16 if that helps any. I would love to do southeast regional but OTR is just as fine.

I know I'm in somewhat of an unfavorable position because of the length of time, however, I've been reviewing all of my study material all week long which includes my CDL manual, pre-trip inspection, hours of service, and trip planning. I would need to brush up on my backing and shifting skills, but nothing that I can handle with some practice.

Hi CR England offers a refresher course but I wouldn't't recommend them. You should try Prime Inc they should be able to help you and you'll make decent pay while training with them.

Thanks for your reply. What does the abbreviation C.K. stand for? Sorry, I'm not familiar with many company names.

Unless you just want to run OTR , or regional , why not try and get on locally with a company. There should be an LTL hub or 2 in the area that you're in. You might have to make a commute but an hours drive to work is way better than being gone for a couple weeks. Also try the beverage companies close by , the gas haulers , the food service folks...lots of places will hire and train you ... since you've already got your CDL's plus all of those endorsement's , you are already way ahead of the game..you just don't realize it :biggrin_25525:.........all you need to do is knock on some doors. Good Luck!

Good one, contact Paschall Truck Lines.

Willis Shaw Express may have a refresher, contact them. You're right in the middle of their running area.

For future reference, look at Miller Transporters in Garden City, GA.

Also, Florida Rock & Tank and CTL and Superior-Carriers in Savannah; after refresher.

I second PTL. They have what you're looking for in terms of refresher, but aren't really a starter company. I've been happy with them.
