Would the Las Vegas area be a good place (location wise) to get to for hometime for OTR guys? OTR tankers?

Nevada seems like a good choice. Florida is too humid. I spent 6 weeks in Vegas in February and March 2010 and only lost $400 playing Blackjack. Weather was nice. In the summer it's hot, but still nice at night. I don't think Nashville climate is that bad.

The biggest problem I would have living in Vegas would be the temptation to blow my hard earned money in casinos. But honestly I don't think the city has as many trucking opportunities as say Phoenix.

You're right about trucking companies. They are here but not like some because it's somewhat in the middle of the line. Plus not much going out in freight, However, that is changing with more and more industries going in.

More than Las Vegas. Look at the miles from L.A. Phoenix would make better sense because of the mileage and the route to the east. If you're going northeast then Vegas would be the way to go. However, there's more freight going east than northeast.
