The ignorant SOB's in Ohio still left the truck speed limit # 55 for the other 4-lane roads (like US 30, US 33, US 35, etc) Also even on some of the interstates (other than the Pike) they still have a split speed for trucks, mostly close to the bigger cities.
And yeah a lot of the 2 laners in in Southern and eastern part of OH are absolute garbage, US 250 from I 77 to the WV boarder is a perfect example. Where I live the landscape is the same if not a little bit worse, and the state of MN has gone through the trouble of actually upgrading some of the busy 2-lanes over the past 50 years, unlike OH. Most of our county roads around here put Ohios state and even US routes to shame.
Now if only we could keep I-90 from turning into a washboard...
which states or area do you hate to drove through???

They were NOT ignorant to do that in Ohio. It's an incentive for trucks to use the toll road. Too many of them were avoiding the toll because it was so easy, and theres two problems with that: Too much truck traffic in little towns because omg trucks are so horrible, and lost revenue from tolls....
Come on, its a good idea. Atleast in PA there is no way to get around certain parts of the turnpike in a truck. -
You pay a fuel tax driving across OH no matter what.
Build decent roads, bypasses, etc through and around towns without 3 dozen stoplights and you won't have to worry about the "big, bad truck." And going from Parkersburg, WV to Chicago, what kind of fool would run all the way up to the toll road?
And isn't the Pike owned by foreigners anyway?Last edited: Jun 2, 2010

Let's see...NYC, northern NJ, New England, Michigan, Utah, Washington, Oregon, California, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio. Utah I hate the most. And I did try to burn the state down. I'm very annoyed that it didn't take. I really, really hate Utah.

I do agree that if the car speed is 65 on a 4 lane then the truck speed should be the same.

And FYI yes I have been 250 between the WV boarder and US 22, luckily with an MT wagon. Otherwise I wouldn't bring it up. First and last time I ever do it. Also it isn't nearly as bad as dragon-tail in NC (never been on it), but they should put an advisory saying trucks not recommended or something like that.
As I stated before Ohio needs to fix their state and US highways the right way, along with many other Eastern US states. . The landscape here in Southeast MN, and SW Wisconsin is just as bad if not worse in spots than SE Ohio. As I stated before most of our county roads around here put Ohio's state and US 2 lanes to shame. Missouri's are unsafe garbage too. Indiana's aren't much better. -
Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, NW Texas and panhandle of Oklahoma going into Colorado towards Denver, the worst strech of road.
-
I don't have a problem with any of the backroads in Wyoming that are east of the Rockies.
Same thing with Nebraska out in the middle of Nowhere you can Fly.
Iowa too never had a problem with those roads, except for the ####### that screw up I80 in the snow... -
. But you complaining about berms is just to funny. FYI, your on a 2 lane...LOL What do you expect? If you need plenty of room for error, stay on the interstate. Also, don't go on to many 2 lanes in KY, IN, IL, MO, MI, PA,.... I could keep going but, basically any of the 48 states. Don't know much about Hawaii or Alaska?
I will agree that ohio has let their roads get alot worse than they usually do. Don't know if it has/had anything to do with the economy or what?
Almost forgot, since your whinning about hills and curves, don't forget WV, there are plenty in that state. Maybe you can talk them into leveling it out too?
