How does`Swift determine which school a person would go?
Is it by the closest geographically?
Or does it depend on the current student load at a particular school?
Or can a person take their pick?

Well find any trucking schools in your area, Find witch schools Swift recruits out of by just calling up the schools and asking. And then decide out of them schools witch one you want to go to. :biggrin_1square:

    1. By where the person lives.
    2. It is determined by geographic location.
    3. If the school is overbooked, you get put on a waiting list.
    4. No the person can not pick. I hear Phoenix, Idaho and San Antonio are the better ones.

Swifts school in general is fast paced. If you are not use to this, please look at other options such as local community colleges and independent trucking schools.

    Swift uses "closest geographically".

You would probably be looking at Milington...outside of Memphis.

Not sure if Lancaster (Dallas area south of the 20 on the 35E) has a school.

Dallas area drivers go to the Swift school in San Antonio. As do the drivers from Laredo and Houston area. Not sure about El Paso.

Edit: I guess I should have said anyone with a Texas address will train at the Swift San Antonio school if they are going thru Swift.

People from Idaho, Washington, Oregon and trying to get Montana back , all go to Lewiston, Id. That way everyone can keep their license in the state it was issued. You will go to your home state for the state test ( Idaho is done right at the school with a 3rd party tester, Washington goes to Walla Walla, Tri- Cities, Spokane or last resort a 3rd party tester from Clarkston- I've herd they're trying to get set up for a full time tester in Clarkston) oregon go to Ontario. They take the truck and students to the testing sights and depending on how many students you will spend 1-2 nights in Ontario.

Millington at least (no reason to believe the others are much different) is anecdotally reported as having a 50% drop out rate in recent times. Community college will be better if you have the time and cash to do it. The dropout rate at community colleges is much lower, the training takes longer and there is usually a choice of employers.
Otherwise expect to work very very hard at not becoming part of that 50% and hugely in debt and no CDL. Not everyone can afford the time or the upfront cash to do community college unfortunately.
