Just based on face value would you buy a used TMC Peterbilt for $60,000? I am going to be pulling a step deck with mostly machines and AG stuff. In a few years I am planning on switching to an RGN and will probably buy a four axle tractor at that point. Or would it be better buying a new tractor now with 46k drives and a 300" wheel base so that I can add a pusher in a couple of years?
Which tractor would you buy?

My mind was working the same way as what you said. Talked to my cousin that has driven as an o/o for 20+ years and he said the same and that it is getting close to needing a inflame and serious DEF issues.

Look at the Prime trucks , they have a apu from day one . Whatever you decide pay to have it looked at . Have them run the after treatment system through its paces.

No, they are pulling flatbeds , heavy loads more wearing, same with trucks pulling reefer, mostly heavy, west coast produce, running hot across mountains . I would look for a used from FedEx ,UPS or any carrier pulling light loads on flat roads flying around with empty boxes.
