I wish people Would Stop saying That you Absolutely cant Run Cali in an older Truck...There Is No Force Field..
There Are plenty of Non Compliant Rigs Running into and out of California as we speak..
If you were trying to do intrastate runs there then I could see the problem..
Which truck is most reliable.

Hmmm...I've met several people who run out of CA that were forced 'at gunpoint' to retrofit their trucks or shut down. You can be lucky up to a point, but why push the issue?

I'm not going to say I don't Believe You since Cops will point a gun at anything these days... But are you saying...Are YOU saying...That they sat there for X number of days with a Gun pointed at them whilst they got their Kits installed..? didnt their Arms Get Tired? Talk about Dedication... -
So now it seems that EVERYBODY is a comedian. No wonder I can't make any money

Personally I'm a believer in mechanical when it comes to engines. So much simpler than today's engines. Wanna swap your 400 Cummins out for a 425 Cat? Just bolt it in and hook up your hoses and linkages. No harnesses to change, no ecm's to reflash/replace. Just old school linkages. If going electronic I would stay away from the early stuff that came out in the late 80's/early 90's. I think the sweet spot for electronic engines was like '97 to '02. Manufacturers had several years to work out the bugs and refine the systems but you weren't so far along that you had to deal with egr.
Truckwise it seems that the quality has dropped off a lot in the last couple years and you're starting to see a lot of automotive influences like dashes are clipped together rather than screwed, no more nice individual gauges and faux wood dash panels and toggle switches have been dropped in favour of those ugly plastic things they use now.slomofo, blairandgretchen, 04 LowMax and 2 others Thank this. -
True. Sadly none of those engines will meet emissions standards, which you WILL have to deal with soon no matter where you run

blairandgretchen Thanks this.
