Hello everybody. Im new here and this is my first post...
So im 17 years old and am planning on going into the military, but it may not work out because I need a waiver that may, or may not get approved. If it doesn't get approved, I plan on going to my local community college until I turn 21 years old. Once I do turn 21, I will have saved up a decent amount of money because I will also be working at a warehouse (building crates, loading/unloading trailers, ect..) I have always wanted to be a truck driver since I was a little kid, and have heard that there is good money to be made if your willing to work for it (which I am). Well, if the military route doesn't work out, I'm planning on either going to Trainco Truck Driving School, or Great Lakes Truck Driving School. ( I live in NW Ohio) Here are the links to the truckin schools websites.. Trainco TDS: http://www.traincoinc.com/index.asp Great Lakes TDS: http://greatlakestds.com/
Both of these schools seem to be very good, in my opinion. They both offer lifetime job assistance and are both long, very thorough in their training methods, unlike of the large carriers who's classes are only two weeks. Ex: Swift, CR England, ect... The only difference between these private schools are the cost. Trainco is $3,995. While Great Lakes is somewhere around $5000. Both of the schools offer lifetime job assistance and seem great, but I am unsure of the quality of them. I would much rather pay extra money to get trained correctly and be confident in my skills, rather than going to a school for 2 weeks and unsure about my abilities. So anyone who has experience or any knowledge about either Trainco TDS or Great Lakes TDS, pleae offer some advice or comment and tell me the right way to go.
Thanks so much
Which trucking school should I attend? (North East Ohio)

Roadmaster in Columbus is a good one.

I attended Trainco about 3 1/2 years ago. Very good school. (in Perrysburg).

Hi, I am new hear as well and looking for the right school too. I googled top schools and one website is the CVTA (Commercial vehicle transportation association). They are the experts and they list the top 3 schools. Roadmaster was one. I have to go back to their site to get the other two. It appears as though you and I are concerned first and foremost about getting the best education the industry can provide and are willing to pay for it. I am on this site inquiring if the $6,500 to attend Roadmaster is like the "Harvard" of training meaning better pay and the best job placement newbies can get. I still have not found the answer for that. I will let you know when I find out. I live in South Florida and could as easily go through a local accredited CDL school for pennies compared to the CVTAs top 3.

Well at least someone has replied to me lol. It seems like were in the same boat. And that would be great if you would let me know if someone has answered your question since it seems like we are in the same position.
Thanks alot -
