Bosselmans in Big Springs, Nebraska or the TA in Morris, Illinois. Just watched two co drivers EPIC FAIL at the big burger challenge in Big Springs the other night, they didnt eat one between them.
-
the one that has the biggest and/or emptiest parking lot
-
i'll eat a ####burger if they give me a 20 acre parking lot

Been awhile since you've been out west I assume. Shady Grove (Road Folks, NM) has been gone for quite a few years. I do agree that it was one of the best stops.

Explains the quality of the truckstop food anymore. -
The Trails TA in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
-
Breezewood TA, an affiliated location, good food.
Good food at the Sapp Bros, clearfield PA... have let the tv/movie area run down.
Greencastle TA now has a fresh made stir fry bar... comes with the buffet..
Trexler plaza, good food when they have any... deli style, and they seem to never make enough.
Petro, Racine IL.. also an affiliated location.
Sioux City IA, Harbor Travel plaza, clean showers, good breakfast..
Montpelier ID, fresh cooked food, just don't be in a hurry.
I see a theme here, good food is what I remember. -
I like any place thats small and not a mega truck stop/travel center.I stay away from all the big chains. There fuel for the most part is higher and just to many trucks for my likeing running around like crazy. Up in New england i like the Irvings never had an issue with one and there clean.

I prefer rest areas for sleeping. Fuel and shower at the truck stops.. I cook in my truck so I don't eat at a TS except maybe once or twice a week. I get routed past home or a terminal enough to do laundry. TS are always too busy and somewhat juvenile for me..
However the Flying J at Haw River, NC has always been clean and quiet.
