Try OTR. You might like it?
I’ve done several. Biggest thing is the company. Will they fix the truck? Do they have good equipment? Do they actually work with you? Not against you.
    I’d avoid reefer madness.
If you want to stay home. Food service or Pilot fuel hauling both good. Pilot been told is easy and easy $100k/yr.

You can make good money in any sector of trucking. I broke into the game on flatbed. Over the course of 13 years, I've done flatbed, dry van, reefer and beverage delivery. Of the 4, reefer has proven to be the steadiest money. That's not asking you can't do well in those other sectors, but if you don't mind running nights at times, you can make some good steady money. People gotta eat fresh food all year long! Hauling reefers ain't limited to food solely as you can use it as a dry van too. You've got more than one sector of trucking covered with 1 trailer.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^THIS!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Starting in tanker can be done, it just takes a little more legwork.

    I'm biased, though........I'm a militant, unrepentant, company-driver-forever-more tanker yanker. If I couldn't pull tanks, I wouldn't drive.

Think long and hard before becoming an O/O.

Everyone wants their own shiny truck with their name on the door when times are fat and there's money to be plucked from the trees.

When the bubble inevitably busts, the only ones still standing are gonna be the O/Os with cash on hand, contacts for loads, and a good business model.

Not saying it can't be done, just make sure you crunch the right numbers to see if it's right for YOU.

(P.S.--I worked it out on paper years ago. It doesn't work for me. YMMV)

Lotsa O/O help on the forum. Good luck!

Depends entirely upon Your Level Of Acceptable Abuse. Every Division Has Driver Abuse.
    Trucking isn't Candyland.
Dry Van has it's own Basic (Abuse) Requirements.
You'll also Have: Twin 53', Reefers, Doubles, Pups, Triples, Haz-Mat, Tanker, Dry Bulk, Specialized, Extend Deck, Drop Deck, Oversized, Skateboard (Flatbed), Auto Hauler, enter question here.

Corporate Driver? Work/Life Balance, some long time AFTER Training in specified field/sector.
Starting Out, 6 figures, figure 65, 432.10., maybe Not 1st Year, unless You Are/Become a Real Go Getter.

Most Money Possible = Stay Company Driver.
Try LEASE OP after a couple of steady Road Experience YEARS OF STUDY, BUT have around a 6 Figure Bankroll PRIOR To Investing. MANY Owner Ops have made some High figures Trucking and Purchased additional Equipment. MANY Have Successfully Failed.
Have You LOOKED AT Current New & Used Truck & Trailer Prices??

You Can Make A Small Fortune In Trucking, IF You Start With a LARGE One, but That's NOT A Guarantee.
