Another Canadian driver and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
Very interested to hear how this goes, things are going well in LCV, but long term I think the place to be is Florida. I texted with my Cuban buddy who did the lisc swap, he got a green card on some Cuban immigration program, so just wanted to add that detail. Also his Florida CDL is limited to Non-hazmat Intrastate only for 1 year. After that, he has to pass some test, to add hazmat and to be able to interstate. As a snow white Canadian Driver, no idea if Florida would be so welcoming lol.Another Canadian driver and AModelCat Thank this.

They didn't tell me that over the phone and I didn't think to ask!

Still, having to drive in FLA only isn't so bad ( if there is the work)Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Tons of work, since they're not locked down, and getting slammed with port traffic and people going on Vacation.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

I also met a Cuban refugee while driving crap around between farms in mainland BC. He just got his class-1 and trying to ramp up his experience. At some point he was eager to get crossing the Rockies into Edmonton ($$$), and I haven't heard of him since. He was new to Canada winters and didn't even understand the concept of snow or even professional driving. Caught him dragging his trailer out of the yard a few times, breaks set, skid marks on road, tires flat-spotted. RIP el amigo Cubano? No se. He also complained of poor vision at night. The whole thing was bad comedy. This country is such a disaster. We can't respect the trade so we bring in immigrants from places where snow doesn't even exist, place them into professions they've never worked, and watch them kill themselves and others in the process. I don't even have the words anymore.

Doesn't matter - have a guy from Ukraine driving with us - yesterday he just parked his truck in Winnipeg - said he's never seen this kind of weather in Ukraine - there is cold and snow but not like this... so Canadian winters are uniqueAnother Canadian driver, BigHossVolvo and skipgears Thank this.

Okay. I just got back from Florida. I visited the DMV in Jacksonville to get the deets from the horses mouth. It's true. Even swap.
No restrictions either. That's only if you have existing restrictions like medical or age. I can even keep my Canadian license card ( they snip the corner to make it unusable)
They photocopied the page from the Florida CDL manual for me that shows it can be done.
Another Canadian driver, Badmon, K-Jack and 3 others Thank this.
