I am a US citizen. Not sure how it works with a VISA.

OK, so just to be clear, an address at the Escapees RV park, SSN, Visa stamp in passport is all I need to do the switch?? Hell, Im on my way to FL it looks like! THe other thing Ive been curious about is the mandates that went into effect on Feb 7 regarding upgrading of CDL and the new school testing. Since we are trading a Canadian CDL for a US one, is the schooling still required or not. I tried to get my CDL in CA before I realized that I needed a SSN and they said that it was like starting all over from scratch (this was in mid January) where I would have to do a written test and take road rest. ANy ideas if its the same in FL for all this?

    Commercial Driver License

IF A DRIVER HOLDS A COMMERCIAL LEARNERS PERMIT (CLP) THAT WAS ISSUED BEFORE FEBRUARY 7, 2022, THE DRIVER IS NOT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ENTRY LEVEL DRIVER TRAINING AS LONG AS THE DRIVER OBTAINS A CDL BEFORE THE CLP EXPIRES.

CUSTOMERS WITH CDL LICENSES THAT HAVE EXPIRED FOR ONE YEAR OR MORE, WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND PASS ALL APPLICABLE CDL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS EXAMS TO OBTAIN A NEW “ORIGINAL” CDL.

Do the policies in place at the US southern border also apply to their northern border?

Yep. Border is a border. What they choose to enforce is a different story.

I meant like how they can just freely cross over on the southern border. No papers required.

Most of what you say here is correct about the E-2 visa as some years ago I also looked into the idea, the object of the E-2 is to manage a US owned business one that you've either bought or self started, however there is no such stipulated amount with the E-2 it is just deemed as an "at risk" amount without actually putting up an actual figure. Amounts greater than > $200 000 usually are considered an at risk investment where as amounts under $100 000 are not however with the right proof can still be approved. The other thing to remember here is the driver actually said he will have a green card so none of this really matters and all he will need to do is change over his CDL.

Hi. Sorry so you need to be a citizen or a green card holder to get a CDL or a cdl switch? You can’t be issued a cdl with a ssn only? (As in non-immigrant visa? Like a business visa?? )

Phenomenal your saga is interesting but you could easily get a sense. Canadians cannot get that vital #. Canadians would need to wit years for a green card. I think an employer can rush the process.
