O.K.....Ladies & Gents.
I'm getting CLOSER to Buying My 1st Truck !( Yippie ! ).
O.K....Seriously,just wanted your Opinion on Which Warranty should I go with ?
I ONLY know of these 2 reading Truck Paper.....If there is another Reliable Warranty that you know of ?
Please post it.....Also I have a Few Questions ? :
(a) Is a Truck Warranty like a Car Warranty ? Can I get a ' Bumper to Bumper ' Warranty ? ( I don't mind Paying The $$$$ ! ).
(b) What is The Normal deductable ? and Can I use The Warranty at The Shop of My Choosing ? ( Obviously,I would Like to Go To The Dealer !,Especially If I Buy a Mercedes Engine in a freight. ).
(c) Is The Warranty added in to The Price of The Truck I Buy,at The Dealer I Buy it from ?.....Or do I have to Go Out on My Own,like Insurance, and Pay for it.
(d) Is there a Certain Year,or Mileage,that I CANNOT get a Warranty for ? Or a Warranty WON'T Cover,because of this ?
Etc....Etc....
Keep on Truckin ' ! :smt039
Which Warranty to Choose ? : N.T.P.,or Premium 2000 Plus.

bumper to bumper usually is for only one year, standard engine warranty is for 2 years or 200,000 miles..there are lots of problems with the emission systems including turbo chargers..a turbo can cost over $4K plus labor, EGRs Turbos, EGR coolers are failing a lot get the best extended warranty you can for 500,000 miles,, there are no deductables generally,,,you want a warranty that will cover engine, turbo, EGR and ALL Emission systems.. trans and rears usually come with a 750,000 mile coverage.
Extended warranties have to be purchased in most cases with in the first 12 to 18 months of purchase ,,and for sure before the standard warranty expires,,talk to you dealer..
I purchased a 2008 Pete with a cummins,,in 400,000 miles I replaced the turbo 3 times, DPF filter when the first turbo failed,, 2 EGR valves and a EGR cooler,,, -
He's talking about aftermarket warranties. OP, from what I have read on here, and heard out on the road, save your money, those aftermarket warranties aren't worth the paper that they are written on in most cases. The only warranty that is half worth purchasing will be one from the manufacturer. IE: Cummins, Cat, Detroit, Eaton, etc.
rollin coal, 123456 and rickybobby Thank this. -
I purchased the extended warranty one time when I bought a used Freightliner and boy was I glad I did! Long story but I walked out with a $27,000 bill from an entire motor replacement, n didn't pay a dime. But I fought hard, I had my dukes up for sure! And I think they would've done anything to get me out of their lives and the receipt reflects JUST THAT! Lmao however I'm probably the reason the warranties suck now! I did buy the premium 2000 , well I made the dealer pay half of it, but it's better than nothing

Premium 2000 will fight you if you have a claim. I had a water pump go out. They will only cover what is in the fine print. To get to water pump, you need to pull the oil pan (not covered). Coolant leaked into oil, they don't cover the replacement of the oil or any damage caused by the water pump. Make sure you keep good records on your oil changes... Premium requires oil and filter change every 20000 miles and you must prove it. Luckily I kept good records. They paid a portion of the repair bill, better than nothing.
Charli Girl Thanks this. -
Yeah it was wasted $ on this stupid warranty, luckily I made the dealer pay for it!! Fortunately int dealer in Houston have been really really fair about fixing things that were wrong to begin with! THATS what has saved me.

The problem with that is dealers change the oil on used equipment so the samples tell you nothing because the oil is clean. This thread is old but I've said it once and will say it again, the best warranty is that wallet in your hip pocket. It'll cover anything. Aftermarket warranty companies are not in business to lose money and chances are very good they will deny you for just about any and everything with rare exceptions. And I do know of a guy who had a turbo covered by aftermarket warranty. But mostly you are just pissing your money away on a worthless warranty where they deny anything.
double yellow Thanks this. -
So if you take one gallon of old oil and dump it in nine gallons of new oil the PPM stay's the same? Must work different for oil than everything else that's measured in PPM.
Ukumfe, rollin coal and double yellow Thank this. -
Common sense dictates an oil sample pulled from a fresh oil change will have skewed results. I think you're even told to put a few thousand miles on before sampling. Next time I call the CAT lab who does mine I'll see what they have to say.
