Hmmmmm.....drug use maybe? Could be inexperience. Could be a lack of common sense. He could be too cheap or impatient to go to the Beacon. The narrator assumes the driver is foreign. That's unknown, perhaps even irrelevant. Biggest issue, too easy to get a CDL....lack of quality CDL training.

This a rather lengthy and multifaceted question. But just to address drivers hitting stuff, I'd call it a lack of screening in the hiring and during cdl training.

Greed has supplanted any meaningful emphasis on weeding out those who have no sense and no business being in a tractor trailer, and the individual in this video highlights that.

Instead of engaging reason and sense, this individual is completely unaware that his tractor is too large for the purpose of that business. Moreover, when he strikes the low bay, he chooses to double down on his mistake and blame the environment for his troubles instead of taking any time to think about his predicament.

This shows not only a lack of sense, but also a lack of remorse since he was willing to damage property of another without hesitation.

To me, this the root of this problem within trucking as it relates to wrecks and such. And if weren't for the fact that so many of the drivers who have such a disregard for others and their property are also the ones who aren't proficient enough speaking and understanding English, there wouldn't be such a widespread crackdown going on.

It isn't about race, it's about being safe.

Watch some videos of people driving in India. They drive recklessly with a complete disregard for the safety of others or even themselves.

The window squeegees at the fuel island must have been missing.

They don't usually bother washing them though... unless it's with a fuel island squeegee. So this is a weird one.

Maybe trying to wash the tape residue off his door real quick so he can tape on a new DOT number? :dontknow:

How many hours of training in CDL school or talking to pro drivers would it take to convince a new CDL driver to NOT gas on it when he hits the roof of his truck the first time at the car wash? NOT every mistake is caused by lack of information. If it was then the world would be just about perfect now that all info is available almost everywhere to anyone. People are desperate to conclude anything but the obvious. Not even a 360 hour CDL class is going to address everything that you may face as a driver. Until a CDL class is longer than a career or does explain every driving situation putting clueless and careless people in trucks will keep causing problems. The more clueless they are (foreign with a very different background than in the US or Canada) and the less they are able to read the clues right in front of their eyes the more often this will happen. Low quality is a choice.
