I dunno if you were still thinking of this style, but I came across this one in South FL on Facebook. It's just a 2 car set up, but I bet you could get someone to build the 3rd car lift. There is another ad in S. FL where someone is selling lots of semi car hauler parts including the hydraulic cylinders.

    2006 freightliner m2

This is the guy parting out the car trailers. I bet either he has one or you could find a lift section from an old car trailer and have a beefed-up frame section to hold it built to that deck.

    Car carrier partes y piesas.

If you could get a section from a scrapped car hauler like on the back of this semi it could be built into that deck with added framework. Like the one right behind the sleeper or the one above the cab.

It looks an awful lot like Shipshe trailer’s work (the truck in the original picture), but it could be somebody else.

I have often said that I would much rather have that 3 car setup than a wedge and a pickup, only one vehicle to lic, tag, ins, and buy, However, I know the ext cab would be VERY enticing, I think you kind shoot yourself in the foot, giving up that 2' of deck space is CRITICAL for any kind of a decent mix of vehicles, also know that a lot of states get down right pissy about keeping those rigs to ONLY 40' and under. Just an observation. Carry on gents!

Yeah, that's what I ran into. I was considering getting one of the 5 pack car haulers but they are always Day cabs. I've only seen 2 that had sleepers. One was an old Volvo and the other I just saw 3 weeks ago here in Orlando was a Columbia with a sleeper. I tried to buy it from the guy but he was like hell no..

There was a guy in South FL had like 5 or 6 of the 5 packs on Sterling chassis but all were day cabs and had a million miles on them. The thing is he only wanted like $15-18k for them.

I was seriously considering one but the no sleeper would be a PITA.

You can pretty much get anything built anyway you want. That’s the trucking industry. I worked for a car hauler years ago and they had the companies who build their trucks build them how they wanted.

    Update

Found the truck I want to buy and decided on a haul and tow bed built either by MoTrailers or Shipshe. I have everything figured out except insurance.
My current insurance company is giving me trouble insurance wise. They want to categorize the truck as a tow truck and instead of cargo insurance they say they can only give me On-Hook. I've seen brokers refuse to give a job if you have on hook instead of cargo. I am not a tow truck, I am an auto hauler.

I sent the broker a picture of a 5 pack truck and asked how progressive would insure it. He said they would insure it as if it was a truck and trailer....

Anyway, have my dispatcher call a few brokers tomorrow and see what they can do for me.
As soon as I figure out the insurance end for the same amount I am paying now or less I will go ahead with the purchase/build and put my truck+trailer for sale.

You need to find a different insurance rep, they CAN'T insure a straight truck as a truck and trailer,,,What are they going to use for a trailer serial number???
