One of the first driving jobs I had in the late 60s we ran Pete cabovers with the smallest sleeper they made. It might have been less than 36", I never measured it. It also had the thinnest mattress I'd ever seen except for a jail cell.
In contrast, the boss would buy us the most expensive and comfortable seat he could find and put in a music radio...a.m. in those days...that would make your ears bleed.
We got paid by the mile and the message was unmistakable...the sleeper was a place to carry tools and clothes, stay in that comfortable seat and drive.
Who cares about the sleeper? What options do you like?

yeah, when i started with NAVL (North American Van Lines/Comtrans Division/general freight)
i had a cabover IH, i cannot recall the model.
i also had a co-driver
the fun part was climbing up and over the dog house, to crawl (literally) into the sleeper.
yah..try taking off or pulling up yer pants laying down, as there was NO headroom.
worst part was when we had to stop when there was no freight, and get our rest.
1 would crawl into the sleeper, the other laid out on top of the doghouse, and it was late spring time, with rising outside temps.
the a/c would work, if it wanted to, most times, it wouldn't
i think i got 3rd degree burns on my butt, when it was my turn to take to the doghouse. -
What's changing times got to do with it ?
How do you know he's living in a dog house ?
Maybe some of us don't need to be pampered

or, are you as ignorant as you sound..???Last Call Thanks this. -
I agree, all I do in the sleeper is sleep. I've got a 63 inch flat top 389 Peterbilt. Plenty of room for clothes and my big butt. I don't cook , watch TV, play games, just sleep.Last Call Thanks this.

I see where your coming from and your not wrong. However, i also only spend that time sleeping in the sleeper. And while as i said if i could have a specific set of ammenitys that would be nice. Id prefer a reliable truck affordable rig with a comfy chair over a fancy sleeper. Hell i paid 5k for my chair and only $800 for my matress.
As a rule i spend 12-14 hours a day with my ### in the seat usually take my 30 mins as onduty not driving time while unloading. Then when i take my 10 i take 1-2 hours doing a shower, getting/prepareing grub and a bit of relaxing before sleep. I get around 6 to 7 hours of sleep. Do breakfast and restroom theb my morning walk/jog thing and then pretrip and roll.
So for ME at least i rarely spend more then an hour or so a day awake in the sleeper save my 34 where i close my curtains pull out my lap desk and sit in the passenger seat goofing off on my laptop or reading a book or 2.
As such the sleeper is dead last on my priority list. Imo reliability>power train>cab interior (this only because im over 6 foot so a volvo is a #### sardeen can)>spec options>equipment>serviceability>service center avalibility>5th wheel setup>sleeper. -
I built a shower and cassette toilet and 12 volt cooler in my truck
and it had a 38 inch flat top sleeper .
I dropped the floor in between the frame and lit the shower there , so that I could stand up .
what I could do with a 84 inch stand up sleeper !RubyEagle Thanks this. -
Same here 63" flat top.. All I do is sleep & keep a 30qt cooler and a couple clothes bags and a log book back there ... I'am perfectly content with that
