I finished up CDL school and need to take the plunge. I've had decision anxiety and I've been avoiding making a decision while still doing Uber. Right now I have an offer for Swift and McElroy. I prefer "no touch" with Swift, but my wife prefers the home for the 34 every weekend for McElroy.

    "Happy wife = happy life"

    It's Christmas.

Show the spouse you real-ly care.

    Go with McElroy.

Whomever you go with--stay there AT LEAST a year.

Longer is of course, even better.

    Also--may I offer to you my personal, "Con-gra-tu-la-tions!!!!".....:occasion5: :occasion6: :occasion7: :wav:

Back when I first started driving--I applied for a position at McElroy--but didn't make their cut.

    You...did.... :-D

Another "plus" for going with McElroy: FREE health insurance. o_O
(or so it currently says on their website job board)

Also: if you need to lose any weight--this job will probably take care of that. ;)

Now....actually how good said insurance really is....would be the topic of another post and/or thread.

Both are on the road w/ a trainer without a contract. As far as I know if you pay out of pocket for CDL school most places don't do a contract. They only do a contract if you get the CDL through the company.

Some will do school reimbursement. That is typically paid out a couple hundred per month as a bit of a carrot to get you to stay. Check with companies you’re looking at.

Well, after a while couldn't you do dedicated with Swift? That'll get you some good hometime. Since you're in Texas, I'd imagine that it's available. McElroy ain't a bad choice though. It's easier flatbedding than the other flatbed outfits, they mostly do sheet rock, and loads that I think go to Lowe's or Home Depot, on occasion I used to see them haul coils. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I'd flip a coin and let fate decide.
