I don't use it, even if I have it, I won't understand what they say on the radio half the time anyways, I was with my trainer and he has it and I hear they talking on the CB but half the time I can't make out what they say and I have been fine on the road without one, and I look at those specially built CB shop, and I think to myself, heck, they are not gonna get a penny out of me lol

I had one in my truck, but turned it on only at shippers/receivers that required one. I don't know who you drive for or where you go, but some of the places I went wouldn't call you on your cell to tell you when to hit a dock - you either had a cb and listened or hoped one of the drivers next to you was cool enough to let you know when they called for you. If not - you just lose out and wait again.

I never use mine except at a shipper/receiver. If I want to talk to you I'll call you.

We use radios on my job, like construction industry, used to be a lot of chat
, We call them "calls", make hundreds a day. If your a pro, you won't miss one.
    -------
Calls mark your location, i.e. leaving shipper.
like a qualcom but everybody on the bus hears it.
Don't get me started on Zonars. :)

For the uninitiated, and I am not talking about you pounder just using your post as a springboard, there is a difference between Ham and CB . Read on......

A ham radio operator is allowed to give general call. Hams legally talk to other hams all over the world and legally run transmitters with much higher power then CB operators are allowed by law. Hams have many bands on which they are allowed to operate while CB is restricted to the 27 MHz band. Types of communications allowed on the ham bands include, Morse code, radio teletype, AM, FM, SSB, TV, Facsimile (FAX), radio control and more; CB has only AM, SSB, and radio control. There are ham repeaters and ham satellites. Hams bounce signals off the Moon back to earth to communicate. The manned space crafts sometimes have hams on board which communicate back to other hams on earth.

The differences between Ham radio and CB are far more then the similarities.

    CB'S still are useful..mostly at shippers/receivers...
Sometimes for reports of scales being open/closed so you have a chance to be sure your logbook is 100% current....
Sometimes the reason for a backup....which lanes are open ahead...
Imo spend $60 on a Cobra IV, or maybe a classic on sale...it is all you need.
If you get into using your cb lots, you can buy a better one, sell the old one.
