How do you do it? I never have. Obviously, you can't vent the tank and if you pressurize then you can't blow down. I imagine vapor recovery is involved somehow. So what is the process, loading to unloading and wash out? I'm just curious about it.
Who has unloaded "inhalation hazard" product?

inhalation hazard is going to be dedicated. Nothing to blow down or vent

A closed loop system is used. As product is moved from a storage tank to the trailer the pressure increases in the trailer. Because you have pulled product from the storage tank you have lower the pressure in it so the increased pressure in the trailer being loaded moves over to the storage tank. Best I can explain it.

Why do you want to fool with some BS like that anyway? You finding breathing and the ability to draw a deep breath to be over rated?
I went through an orientation at Bulk Transportation. The do hazardous tanker. They pull the stuff that's really nasty in those really skinny ( Class 9???? ) tankers that are really beefy, because a gallon of the product is very heavy, much heavier than water.
I left after orientation cause a lot of the old hands starting showing scars where they had been burned, and the guy doing the orientation was like a 30 year driver, that finally got tangled up with a bad load, and was commenting on his 4 month hospital stay he was pretty much back to normal.
F all that.
The one common denominator all these guys had was it was always another drivers fault.
See above sentence starts with F.
They did NASTY acid types. That was their bread & butter, and you had to use respirator while loading or unloading, they were placarded corrosive though, not inhalation hazard or poison gas.
I did two loads, and the suit you had to wear, and the stories of peoples clothing melted into their skin, mmmmmmmmm yea I'm cool, bye bye.RookieJ1987, 19d and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
I don't necessarily want to do it, I just want to know how it's done. I've unloaded more HazMat than I can remember, but never anything like Inhalation Hazard.

I've done it but it was a long time ago.
I believe they used plant nitrogen to unload.... I didn't vent the tank when done and just brought it to the tank wash. And let them deal with it.....Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
