Never had tinnitus until I lost all hearing in my right ear, I have gotten used to the constant ringing it's when it goes to ticking or sounds like a phone ringing in my ear that I get a little pissy about it I have not found much to make it better or worse but I will agree on the staying hydrated and well rested those two things keep the tinnitus manageable. Loud noises don't help either, but considering my occupation I consider that unavoidable

Just finished an appointment at the ENT on an unrelated issue. But they have 2 very well thought of hearing specialists "audiologists" and hearing aid tuners.
So while there I inquired about any upcoming treatments for tinnitus. Doc says they are experimenting with genetically modifying some of the inner ear cells that reside just under those hairs that I believe are called Stereocilia, to make them grow into new stereocilia cells. Long ways off likely, but they are working on something which is good news.
So both pronunciations are 100% accepted. Tin it tus, and Tin ite tus.
The doc confirmed that training the brain to ignore the hissing, ringing, crickets etc., is the key to management.
The trucking industry will at times expose you to loud noises that are un-avoidable of course. But accepting further hearing loss as part of the job is not acceptable. If you have tinnitus or other forms of hearing loss, do everything you can to stop further damage. Carry ear plugs in your pocket, head phones around your neck at all shippers and receivers so they're handy when needed.

    JForce28 Thanks this.
