for most things it is better, but countries like Canada consider some U.S misdemeanors to be felony’s. So it can impact some drivers regardless if they wanna go into Canada. They know about a class c misdemeanor from 35 years ago. Believe it

 

What trucking company does interviews?

 

Here is the typical trucking company interview........."Do you have a valid Class A CDL?"......yup. "Is your Medical Card Current?"....yup. "Do you have your Hazmat Endorsement?"......yup. "Ok, Orientation is next Tuesday, we'll arrange a Rental Car for you. Be ready to pee in a cup."

 

look into getting the record sealed/ expunged. It won't be invisible to Cops or courts but any other look into your history....especially by a trucking company.... and the violation won't show. You will need to look at your state statutes to see if you are eligible. In most states you can seal a misdemeanor or even a felony as long as you have been conviction free for the mandated time established by the state since the last conviction on your record. This can be done for the cost of a stamp in most states and certainly worth doing
