No nice garage or pad to park on. I pretty much live in my truck and every few months take a week or two off at my mother's house, where I park the truck on a gravel lot at a privately owned bar by her house. All the repairs I've done have been on the road. Except in 2 weeks I'll be replacing a heavily corroded coolant pipe coming off my radiator while at the house since it will require draining and refilling all my coolant.

Only got my authority last year in February, but averaging 10k miles a month.

    Time consuming? Nah.
Ifta is just 4 times a year copying your mileage from your elog and fuel purchases from your fuel card. Yearly registration is the same, mileage from your elog for the year and mail it in.

Taxes are always time consuming, but that's something you have to do regardless of having authority so I wouldn't count that. Except for reciepts, but it's easy to record their amounts in a spreadsheet (if you have a laptop on your truck) to add the totals to your taxes when filing.

I guess it is getting easier the more I go at it....been almost 7 years now.

But man carrier setups/agreements/billing/calling on late pays (getting much more rare these days for me at least),thinking about what the truck needs/will need/want.

I’m 100% on my own. The only services i use is to pay my 2290 & my accountant. Other than that i handle it all myself.

Oh & i do all the work on the truck that i can, if it’s over my head or beyond my abilities i take it to a shop.

I count my blessings that has only happened twice while on the road

100 percent on my own too. I do it all! Been letting a shop close to my yard handle some repairs I would usually do on my own lately though. I've learned to relinquish some control to others. It's helped with my stress levels!

    Thats smart IMO.

Over the weekend I had 2 trucks serviced. 1 trailer with a tire repair, and 1 truck with a wheel seal fixed, all at the yard. I focus on making money and let the mechanics focus on being mechanics.

If I did all of that myself I’d be much more stressed and a lot less time with my family.

Agreed, when i had my tires put on, i had explicit instructions to replace a specific set of bushings but the shop called and told me it was ready, i went through the list and he told me he replaced the whole dogbones on top and bottom of the rear pumpkin because the bushings were non-replaceable. That wasnt the set of bushings i meant but they were due and i had missed it. Wouldnt have been a job i wanted to do myself anyway.

Yes it cost some more money than i planned on but i didnt waste a day and a half fighting it at my house versus his 2 hours labor.

Exactly. A couple years ago I would have been doing those things myself. Now, I've grown enough (both in maturity and financially) to spend my time doing something else more enjoyable.
