I have a wife and people on my team but am 100% independent if that’s what you mean.
Carrier, brokerage, and little warehouse. No factoring, all payroll, accounting, and all the crap that comes with trucking done in house. End of year taxes I use an accountant for and I don’t have time to do repairs anymore. To be honest I’m probably most proud that we don’t factor. On the brokerage side I’d say a good 70%+ of our carriers factor their invoices.Jarhed1964, feldsforever, Dino soar and 9 others Thank this. -
So next question. Who here is based in Ohio. I know someone active on the forum is but I can't remember who.
Then the next question (for me...I hope many questions and answers arise here... from us and answered by us) would be: Who here has handled their own IFTA/IRP audit and when was it?
The questions on the questionnaire are confusing.Jarhed1964, feldsforever, Deere hunter and 5 others Thank this. -
This thread just got its own bookmark on my toolbar.
Carrier/O/O's have a lot more to do than O/O's leased on.
I am putting all of my O/O comments in here and here only from now on.....because I feel everyone should be under their own authority anyway.
I also messaged the site admins to maybe add a Carrier/O/O sub forum.
I am really shocked that it hasn't been done yet.
A carrier/O/O sub forum would be a great place to discuss verified rates too.Jarhed1964, feldsforever, Deere hunter and 3 others Thank this. -
I used a service to set up my LLC, and I'm using an accountant for at least my first year taxes. My wife looks for loads with me, but I call the brokers. When on the road, I walk her through invoicing over video call. Otherwise I do them when I get home. She wants to be a part of it, and we've always kind of been one person so to speak.
I turn my own wrenches except for mounting tires, but I'm going to get tools for that too. Did all the rest of the stuff to get my authority on my own.
Anyone who's been reading my nonsense from the beginning knows I'm not a real trucker. I'm an oilfield hand that just so happened to know how to handle a truck. I didn't want to be under the man's thumb, so I bought a truck and got my own numbers. I learned how to tarp on YouTube, and I literally learned how to be a trucker on TTR, and that's no bull ####. If you see a driver with a confused look on his face, it's probably me. I'll also be doing the arm pump, so make sure and hit that air horn!Jarhed1964, RStewart, Deere hunter and 15 others Thank this. -
Oh man this is great hearing all these stories!
