I bought my 03 conversion van 2 years ago for $13 thousand , my brother remarked I paid way too much, but it was mint inside and out and Only had 90 thousand on the clock.

I've driven it 25 thousand miles and the only thing I have done was replace the idlers and the altenator because I had a little squeak.

Best plus is even though I bought it up in Michigan it was never winter driven.

When I moved to Florida 38 years ago the first thing I did was sell my Michigan cars and bought used Florida cars .

Wife begged me to keep her 1980 Monte Carlo that was nice condition until you crawled under it. Gotta love used Florida vehicles that have shiny paint on the frames yet.

Gotta be careful buying those condo cars from beachside residences though. That salt air is hard on the electronics and window gutters .

That’s how this one is. Even though it spent first 13 yrs in NY. Last 7 yrs in Florida. I paid $5500, for it. Every option available. 1 of only 1400 Overlands made in 2003. Short production year. 4.7 HO was only made 02-03-04. 05 was a new body and hemi.Everything’s been flushed and changed at least twice. The old man was a maniac, taking it to the dealer for oil changes every 6-7 mos. sometimes only 1000 miles. New belts battery a/c. The no rust factor is my main thing. Rust repair never lasts, and is very expensive. I might take to Masco in February for the half price special. Prep and tape myself.

Yea Maaco isn't bad if you pop the window moldings off and lights and than scuff up all those area that they wouldn't than mask off.

If you go for the premium paint it's worth it , I have a boating buddy down here that owned 3 Maaco franchises .

My other buddy had a high end auto paint shop and used to buy lightly wrecked daily drivers and fix them. He prepped and taped them and wreckererd them over there and back than assembled .

He couldn't buy the paint for what they would paint them for , few c-4 vettes got Maccoed by him .

Never forget my dads 65 gmc pickup when it came back from Earl Schiebs, what a disaster. I don't know what was worst the runs or the tape job. .

Wait I kinda am though because I am round trip every load. Home empty every load since 2015. So I quote 2.15 all miles which is actually 4.30 per loaded mile.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

He’s talking all hub miles loaded and empty. It may be a little harder with a flat but you can do a lot more then 2.15 all. IMO.

My operation is different but I consider my break even 2.15 to be honest. Yours is probably 1.75 depending how much you pay yourself and how many miles per year you turn. That’s based off .60 per mile which is hired driver wages.

Yea I agree. And while I am doing OK I don't feel like I am building the bank enough or quickly enough to plan for the future (new truck).
