while i'll agree with the sentiment that truck stops charge too much i will also note that i have an account and a month by month payment for each of the big chains.
if something is wrong with the wifi i call up customer service and have them fix it, always makes it better, i watch youtube vids, download porn and get on these forums just fine.
nothing is wrong with the wifi if you are willing to complain.

I have been using the Pilot/J monthly subscription off and on for a few months with pretty good success. I stream Netflix movies pretty regularly and I'm on this site right now with at a pilot.

Let me share a couple of secrets I have found...
If you are getting bad reception, keep this in mind:

    - CALL that WiFi customer service number. Call. Call. Call.
If a particular location is giving you enough trouble their tech guys are very helpful. They will do their magic WiFi thing on their end and reset everything at your location. If this reset hasn't occurred in a while this procedure helps give you a stronger signal. Just think of it like their system is constipated and he works the Ex-Lax to free it up.

    - If possible, do not park next to a refer unit. Easier said than done but they will hurt, if not outright kill your signal. As it was explained to me its like sitting next to a huge microwave oven. Whatever that means. But it is true.

    - Again, if possible, don't let refer units get between you and those little WiFi antennas on the roof. The antennas look like a little white, empty box of donuts on a short post. I'm hungry. If you are parked where there are refer units getting between you and that signal, like the fuel islands, you may lose your signal intermittently. It sucks but this is the way it is.

    Hope this helps...

Another thing that helps is you can buy a wifi signal extender at Fry's Electronics. Mine was 20 bucks. It plugs into your USB port on your laptop and it has a better antenna so it can connect you to a wifi that's further away.

Just go into the area of the store where they sell the motherboards and CPU's and stuff, and ask one of the sales guys there about it.

Still not perfect, but it has helped.

you never know that dropped connection could have been the best thing that ever happened to you, it might have been a picture of a she-male

i use verizon mifi as long as you have a decent cell service 3-4g its pretty quick, not home cable modem fast but you can streem vidio browse the web ect with no issues. just try to limit your vidieo usage to avoid the 5g mark at the end of the month. although iv had it for a few years and never gone over, but don't watch netfix or movies online.

I accidentally switched to Sprint, Well I was fed up with the lack of customer service from Verizon, They wee messing with my phone so I went to their website and ordered 3 phones to replace each of my lines, Wife mine and my Moms! I put in the notes please do not automatically transfer my service before I inspect the phones, I needed to know what I got was compatible, Well as soon as I received the phones, the exact moment that I signed the delivery receipt My phones were ported over to Sprint! nothing said nothing said or told to do it, I called Verizon to see what happened they said that my phones had been ported over to Sprint and that I had agreed to it! I called Sprint and this is where the troubles started, I ask them where they were? I asked them what their original language is, I asked if there was a large body of water between us? I asked every question I could to find out where these people were, the customer Service was very very bad, They don't understand our dependence on modern technology, They don't understand that many businesses use these devices these people have no clue, they put everything into a computer and then say what the computer says to say, If i have a uestion with WiFi they go to their screen that talks about WiFi and then scroll down to that question, and read what is on the screen, They are always saying I'm sorry to hold you up, their speech is broken, they are the worst. I went back begging to Verizon to take me back and they did, I will never move services again. So Help Me God!:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25525:

I have a verizon prepaid mifi unit. So much better than the truck stop wifi. But I did find an awesome service at the Flying J or Pilot in Terre Haute Indiana if I remember correctly. I think I downloaded a movie or it was an entire season of Big Bang Theory one evening. Very quick.
