You’ve got 2 weeks in you lol. The last big money grab until you ride into the sunset.

What I am doing now is excellent revenue when I work hard, home every other afternoon about 1300, $1,000 less weekly expenses(my wife pays my health insurance) don’t bring this part up because she would gladly send me packing 2 weeks at a time to get her Teamster Cadillac insurance back and I am already vested to receive a reasonable pension in September if I were to decide to retire. I likely will keep working a few more years, but not 2 weeks out. Now if Bowling Green puts owner ops on the board and I could gross 7 figures you might see my dirty motor sneaking in and out of California twice a month. But don’t tell anyone!

I admit I am greedy deep down, 10 Corvettes and a big Teamster sticker on my rig would make me slightly happy. If the right amount of money is thrown my way I will go places I haven’t been in a big truck in 30 years. I might regret it, but that hasn’t stopped me from doing things in the past. Lol The Strip Club next to the Big Chicken Truckstop on the Tennessee/Alabama border is off the table. I can’t do that again.

North American is what's left of Selland Auto Transport. Jack Cooper bought all their assets soon after Selland employees voted in the Teamsters. That was in 2017.
They do have a Teamster contract but it's not the same as the Master Carhaul contract. The major caveats and this may have changed, NAAT can not load directly out of Jack Cooper terminals, loads have to go to overflow. The medical benefits are not the same either. The contract is also capped at 75% of the gross. Again, some of this may have changed. NAAT may be an opportunity but I'd take a close look at the contract.

As far as hauling Corvettes, I work out of Bowling Green and we have the contract for the entire US, nothing goes by rail anymore. Jack Cooper takes care of that account, There are no 'ageing' units, I run California and I don't think I've ever hauled a unit that was old.

hahah. Only the Cooper boys are allowed to pull 10 outta there. Us poor dedicated fellas are capped at 8. Doesn’t hurt my feelings at all. “ why haul 9 when 4 pay just fine “

Ahhh yes. I’ve heard they weren’t going to rail in the US anymore. I felt bad for the guys last summer doing that. Hard to get far with only one fuel tank on some of those tractors. We still rail them in Canada, or they send us to Toledo to grab them for furtherance.

It has changed to 80% but still not enough to take away my hometime. I am familiar with how Bowling Green works. I know they won’t ever have owner ops at the Golden Goose terminal, I was just commenting on if they did my greed probably wouldn’t allow me
to pass it up. One of my better friends was a top revenue producer there with Allied. You got to experience the good old days of being a Union Owner op at NuCar Carriers, but times aren’t terrible now. Did you transfer to Bowling Green or are you still in Lansing and Backhaul out of there?

I transferred to BG over a year ago, now it's BG to San Diego and LA for the most part. I only load and deliver once or twice in a week lol.

I am no longer in the industry, but considering getting back in.

Years ago there was a different car haul forum that no longer exists, so cannot quote the conversation. Anyway, several of us were ranting about how crazy low the rates were & how expensive the cost to continue running remained. I was surprised at how many well established carriers / lease ops that typically bragged how great they were doing were also the same ones loading the cheap load board stuff. They had their one way outbound loads & would grab whatever they could to get back, regardless the rate. Their opinion was that they alone were not going to change the market.

To be clear, I am not defending cheap freight in car haul or any segment of transport. More so was just surprised at the opposing viewpoint & who was actually moving the stuff.
