I am no longer in the industry, but considering getting back in.

Years ago there was a different car haul forum that no longer exists, so cannot quote the conversation. Anyway, several of us were ranting about how crazy low the rates were & how expensive the cost to continue running remained. I was surprised at how many well established carriers / lease ops that typically bragged how great they were doing were also the same ones loading the cheap load board stuff. They had their one way outbound loads & would grab whatever they could to get back, regardless the rate. Their opinion was that they alone were not going to change the market.

To be clear, I am not defending cheap freight in car haul or any segment of transport. More so was just surprised at the opposing viewpoint & who was actually moving the stuff.

You’d still be surprised at who’s hauling for what. I remember people chastising me for complaining about cheap freight.

This may not be a bad gig for those who would want to run the road possibly chasing overflow rates.
