To avoid hijacking BigBadBill's thread entitled "who is looking to expand" found here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...operator/243646-who-is-looking-to-expand.html
I decided to start a new thread and ask this question of Owner Operators.
If a small fleet owner walked up to you and said "I am going to expand using O/O's, I want you to pull for me and I will give you the package that you want" What would that package be? I am personally intersted in what the reefer hands have to say but all are welcome to provide input. I look forward to hearing what you have to say, thanks in advance.

Lot of company's out there like that.
RGRTim Thanks this. -
As mentioned I was actually expecting all kinds of unreasonable replies to that post. Disappointed in the lack of O/O's who chimed in but oh well. Thanks to those who did reply.

So you are looking at $15k to the carrier. Take $6k out for insurance, $1500 for plates, $1200 for IFTA, permits, etc., $5k for trailer and maintenance.
Not accounting for office, phones, internet, employees, accounting, legal, etc the carrier clears $1,000 a year.pearcetrucking and RGRTim Thank this. -

In this instance he stated "with trailer" so the 5k for trailer and maint would drop off by even then there isnt alot of meat left on the bone. As mentioned I actually expected guys to come back with $2+ per mile all miles you pay all the permits plates etc get me home every other day and pay me within 2 hours of invoice receipt. -
Most of my O/O's grossed over 250K. (120-130Kmiles) 4 1/2 days on and 2 1/2 off(some do a 9 on and 5 off run)
The gross linehaul only was around 225K.(and I haul above 95% contracted freight) That leaves the truck about 195K(before acc) and me, the carrier with approx. 29K per truck @ the 87% (77% without a trailer)
The FSC per truck is over 50K and approx 10K in accessorials.
\
29K is far over 15K
If you have any number of trucks why would you be on a flat monthly insurance? You should be on a revenue or mileage(or combination) basis.
Anyone who has a 7K(numbers you used)office cost per truck needs to look hard at their spending.RGRTim Thanks this.
