Part of the Samsara system, is forward facing cameras. He only has access to my time behind the wheel. Samsara doesn't track anything else. Unlike Google. Or any other tracker system already in your phone.

Been lied to by companies too many times to actually believe that. Maybe true, but I won't trust it as truth.

My company got tablets for every truck with unlimited data. I don’t like the idea of using my personal phone for ELD because it basically requires you run phone all day. I stream music and podcasts so those app are running in background. I choose to use them vs a boss say you have run ELD app all day on personal phone it’s a more wear and tear on the phone battery in my opinion and the phone can get hot running screen all day. They should provide a tablet with data and mount on the dash for it.

well, here is an update. about the situation well they have fully gone forward with the motive ELD and started having drivers move to the new system. they told me that I was required to use my personal phone and to switch over to the new system. Which I told my company all I have is a flip phone and that aint going to happen then they told me Then I would have to go and buy a new phone and if I didn't, they will shut me down and have me sitting. how in the hell can they pull this crap It sounds like they won't fire me they will just have me sitting not getting paid anything.

Good luck fighting it. We have one driver insisting on using EROAD so he doesn't have to use his phone with Motive. The rest of us use Motive if rods is needed, and the poultry guys use a time sheet for short haul of live cargo. I have an Android for a second line and ELD, and replaced the flip phone with another Android when I started having issues with 3g working, as it doesn't always work.

Correct GPS, phone, eld tablet is supposed to be mounted (suction cup mounts to the window is illegal still in most states surprisingly) some states don't even like transponders in the window. Regardless of the device or purpose of the device, everything needs to be mounted & not in the drivers direct line of sight, it’s considered distracted driving, obstruction of view, all the ways they explain it. There are a handful of states in which suction cup windshield mounts are legal, but the law states specific requirements on where the GPS unit or smartphone can be mounted on the windshield.

and truthfully, they probably have spyware on the drivers phones to snoop on them. Its a way dispatchers know when a driver wakes up. When the divers just don’t know where the spyware was installed from because they make a driver download so many apps for tracking or communication.
