If you have tanker/hazmat endorsements, then go with tankers. There's several that hire new cdl graduates.
Second choice for the big paychecks is foodservice companies. Hard work delivering to fast food joints, but the pay can be around $70K on average; manual labor/driver unload.
Ignore any "experience required" on websites because all the companies I list hire new cdl graduates. They bend their own hiring rules listed on their websites for a high quality applicant. You'd probably really enjoy tanker work as a first choice. Submit lots of applications, then take the offer you find most attractive.
    Tanker Companies:
    Schneider Bulk
    Tidewater Transit
    Trimac Transportation
    SVTN
    Superior-Carriers
    McKenzie Tank Lines
    CTL Transportation

    Foodservice Companies:
    Reinhart Foodservice
    McLane Foodservice
    Sygma Network
    Labatt Foodservice

@Tuga Trucker don't forget the ltl companies, also grocer supply the one off Holcombe on 288 are hiring and the pay is pretty decent, you only travel in Texas and stay in hotel's for your 10hr break, I also know this bcuz my uncle is been there for 24 years it's work but you make money.

    Good luck on your search

I think he is out of the hiring area for West Side. I will say that I always hear good things about Crete from their drivers. The lowest length of service driver I have spoke to had 7 years. They must have good retention numbers.

I don't like Crete and their slow bare bone trucks. Anyone doing long haul should have driver comfort amenities; that's the least a company can do for the drivers. I had several job offers from Crete when they had a terminal in Lebanon,TN and wouldn't even consider it.

It must work for a lot of drivers, the ones I talked to sure seemed happy. They did not seem bothered by 62 mph trucks. The good thing about trucking is that there are a LOT of different companies with different options. The key is finding a company with the right combo for one's wants and needs.

Just stay away from mega carriers. Haul hay, flatbed, tanker, ltl, work for a farmer. Anything but a mega.
