I worked for Schneider for 7 years, granted it was on the Schneider/Harley account and I considered myself a Harley employee more than a Schneider employee but you still had to deal with all the micromanaging garbage that they put you through trying to turn everyone into a clone of the same driver. Surprisingly no driver facing cameras, which is probably because they're penny pinching stingy, but we did have more control measures than the majority of other carriers. Following distance violations <300 feet (Every driver in "Smokey and the Bandit" got flagged for that one), hard breaking violations (just run over that kid that appears suddenly chasing his ball, you'll avoid getting written up for that hard breaking violation, even though breaks were invented to prevent this.) Right and Left lane warnings. (Touch the line it gives you the Family Feud wrong answer buzz) Over-speeding... (flagged and reported if you let gravity do the job for you down any hill.) No pets of any kind allowed (they considered it a distraction, even though that team driver sitting next you showing you movie clips is perfectly all right.) No talking on Cell Phones at all, even though every single Pilot, T&A, Loves and Flying J sells blutooth headphones of every kind, Every quarter it seemed like they came out with another rule or regulation to see how many drivers they can get to say screw it and throw in the white towel. They layed-off decent trainers and kept the hated ones, sent decent dispatchers further from their homes forcing them to quit while replacing them with uncaring, heartless a-holes that get annoyed anytime you asked for help, which is their ONLY job considering they did no planning in the least. They went from Quarterly PM's to Yearly PM's allowing trucks to break down three times more often thinking they were saving money. It went from a decent company back in 2010 to an absolute ####show in 2021. Only thing remotely decent about them are their operation centers, (free washers/dryers, plenty of showers) Other than that I wouldn't recommend them unless you're willing to wear a choker and a chain.

What is the best way to abuse my privates? I was thinking of using a hammer but I’ve heard a soldering iron or a potato peeler are painful too.

I don’t have anything to compare it to, but so far in the 3 months I’ve been with Schneider Ive been pretty happy with them as a starter carrier. Sure, they have some annoyances like have to watch your speed down hill on cruise, no talking on the phone, etc. The truck has all the automated safety equipment, but so far I haven’t had any critical events triggered. I’m not pressured to run beyond my abilities, and I get along well with my DBL. They also seem pretty dedicated to not having driver facing cameras.

I’m sure after a year I’ll want to move on to somewhere that doesn’t tell me where to fuel, but in the meantime I read the crazy experiences people post on here about their own first jobs and it makes me thankful for where I am.

No, I don’t because I’m doing dry van and reefer. The only footwear requirement is that it should be oil and slip resistant. Flatbed does require steel or composite toe boots. Tanker may as well, but I’m not sure.
