Great video, @Ridgeline , though we know we an do better than the 5.29 MPG's for diesel trucks.
Today, the math for trucking is pretty easy.
$1 a mile for fuel.
$1 a mile for labor and associated costs
$1 a mile for the truck, administrative and profit.
Electric cuts fuel cost in half. Now, imagine a driverless truck. Cut another buck a mile. Between implementation of the two, transportation costs would be cut in half.
My point is not that this is the guaranteed future, my point is that there is a tremendous economic incentive for companies to try and figure out how to make electrification and autonomous trucks work.
Who is/will be the 1st TTR member to drive Electric Semi-Truck?

As of September 6th of this year, Schneider still hadn't taken delivery of their new 50+ electric fleet from Freightliner. They've been beta testing a couple trucks for the last year, but my guess is that Freightliner is having some issues getting the finished product off of the production line.
Schneider National Inc. - Schneider previews Freightliner’s eCascadia Class 8 electric truck
By the way, the new eCascadia trucks come only in a day-cab for now and have two batty sizes. One will travel 150 miles, and the other 250 miles.Blue jeans, AsphaltFarmer, Accidental Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
