Some states dont allow an employer to get that info like where I live, WA State unless they have a written form from me to do so and then it takes awhile. Much simpler to ask me to pay the ten bucks and go get it. If your that worried about it, tell him if he needs it then he should pay the money for it.

That's a touchy situation. It's really an employer expense. They are not suppose to charge you for reports, uniforms, drug tests, etc.
I wouldn't be filing a dispute over $12 as it's considered a "reasonable" expense.
An employer can't withhold any deductions without prior agreement. Other than taxes, social security, medicare, wage garnishments.....
The DOL won't step in unless the deductions drop you below minimum wage. Say you wreck a truck and then the employer forces you to pay for it, then you have a claim. If you sign a pre-employment agreement, then yes, he can make you pay. If he takes you in the office after the fact and forces you to sign a promissary note, then you have a claim.
I would consider the $12 well spent. He just showed you he is a tight wad and you have to watch him closely. He'll probably try to beat you somewhere else.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
the companys i have worked for have always payed for my mvr

Getting a copy of a driver's mvr is the responsibility of the employer, but I don't recall anything in the rules that states that the carrier should pay for it. Carriers are required to get a copy of driver's mvr each year, but are not required to pay for it. If you don't want to pay the $12 then you can always talk to them or find another driving job.

We aren't required to give a copy of the MVR , just sign a form stating whether we had any violations or not .

Companies trying to save a dollar anyway they can...............
