I had good luck with having my casings capped for the drives. I did not use them on my spread. I bought some small ones once for my stepdeck, total waste of money, blew two of them within two weeks, so jerked the rest off.
I always kept the caps aired up tight, and had no trouble.
Up here in Alaska we have it made with caps, in fact the cap companies cap and sell caps that they will not think about capping down south. We do not have the heat nor the sustained speed like running the interstate. We also get by running 80 pounds in them, again because of the heat and speed.

Lol, if you can get LS pricing, there is no reason to buy recaps at 2/3 of the price of a brand new quality tire. Maybe you like to learn the hard way though.

Landstar tire prices as ive seen on lcapp website arent any better than i see everywhere else.

When i was at millis they used bandag 220’s and they were really good recaps.

So I just googled a Bridgestone r197 ecopia 22.5lp. $299 with FET on LCAPP, basically $4-500 online, not counting shipping or anything. Are you comparing the longa ling ding Chinese tire prices to name brand tire to say prices aren’t better? The only time I’ve seen better public pricing on any tire was when Goodyear was blowing out Marathons in a particular size and I think @rollin coal bought some.

No that was their steer tread the G399 tire a couple of years ago. I cant remember the exact price but I want to say maybe $325 apiece plus FET and plus 9.75% TN sales tax unmounted. It was 16 ply 11R22.5 G399 and the reason they were so cheap is because Goodyear had just lost their tire account with Ryder or Penske Logistics and so all of a sudden they had several thousand extra of these on hand to get rid of.

I did also get some decent pricing on 8 of same sized marathons in that same deal but not nearly that good. As luck would have it I only got about 50,000 miles out of those particular G399's. Marathons still doing good. The 399's got to wearing crazy and causing some shimmy. Turns out they were not very round. Bought some brand new Ecopia steers, I think 283, about a year ago to replace them with. Which, knock on wood, have been wearing perfectly and smooth as silk. Funny thing was after getting the new Ecopia steers and paying #### near $1,100 for them I started reading on here about people having major issues with them chunking out badly. Guess I dodged a bullet with that one.

Those R197 Ecopias are the best #### closed tandem axle trailer tire I have ever seen. If you can get them for $299 + FET that is a smoking deal for sure. I had some of those on my van and they wore like iron running smooth as silk. They put 8 brand new ones on this reefer I pull and I was glad to see that.
