One last thing, bad credit doesn't mean you can't run a household. Again making up facts?

Death in the family, divorce, loss of income or a repo caused by the total mechanical failure of the "cheap truck" guys have pumped their life savings into so they could be a "real OO". Isn't that the popular advice you guys like to give?

I agree. Some people advocate as if it's still in the 1960's where you get the CDL (chauffeurs license) on their own, then knock on doors, then be hired, then shop around for your own benefits here and there.
Most recommending this already have a connection to trucking through family, friends, working at a company that has trucks and gives them a break, etc. They leave that part out as if they just got their license on their own, then walked into a couple of trucking companies and were hired.

Morgan1981, what if there where somewhere you could sign a Lease Purchase AND select your own freight and dispatch yourself? ....cough cough... Eagle Logistics...cough cough... lol

I'm by no means endorsing them or saying its a perfect deal, but some of your concerns can be debunked because such options in the L/P "realm" do exist.

And this is the poster child of the problem that everyone perceives with L/O/P.

The financial fundamentals on Eagles program do not pencil out. It can work, but you have to be extremely lucky ... being able to pick or not pick your loads has nothing to do with it. You have better odds at a dispatch directed company such as JCT.

And that's the issue ... most people jump into leases without a viable business plan, much an actual understanding of what business is, act like it's job ... and ultimately they will fail. But that is no different than most people who go out buy their own truck and get their own authority.

Failure rates are the same ... But the L/O gets to whine that a company screwed them over, while the person who did their own thing can only look in the mirror and say "I'm an idiot."

So, if you think Eagle's program is viable ... I would assume you have some solid business analysis to back it up.

I think the poster was just using Eagle as an example that there are operations that allow exactly what everyone says to look for... and is still a disaster.

Honestly the two major issues with Eagle is first leasing both a tractor and trailer through Quality. Thats gotta be the worst deal ever created. Second is giving up 25% for effectively no support. Near as I can tell the only service they provide is actting as a factoring company. The operational insurance charges are horrible too.

Everything you stated there is absolutely correct sir and I mostly agree with. Yes my post was only sarcastically stating to another fellows comment that implied not being able to pick your own freight as being a main factor that lots of L/P's fail. I was only saying to him that there are other options available. Not endorsing Eagle or any lease purchase option. No I do not know for certain if Eagle is a viable company... yet. I'm still gathering information, doing my research, creating said business plan in the off chance that one day I do decide to take the plunge, and doing all of my due diligence to find that out for you. I can tell you luck may play a major part in most aspect of our lives, but if I do sign my name on that lease I will have already done everything in my power to have reduced the amount of chances for bad luck to impose its will

I'm quite sure you mean well, and I honestly mean no disrespect I'm not that kind of "poster". Yet I do feel like some of your comments contradict one another, most likely unknowingly and that's fine, again no disrespect, people feel how they feel about many different things and that is ok too. You say Eagle's financial fundamentals don't pencil out, and directing after say, It can work. If the financial terms of the agreement do not allow you to have a viable business model, it cannot work. Yes again you do have to be a little bit lucky with anything in life to succeed, its just how the world works. Although If your are not jumping into it and putting major thought into a major decision, creating a solid business plan, creating relationships with brokers on said companies approved list (whether its Eagle or not), learning how to be a successful business owner within our industry, and doing all of this way before a decision to take on such a daunting is at the forefront. Then you are greatly reducing the chances of that luck we are talking about teetering to the wrong side. So I'm just saying you shouldn't automatically assume that no one is going about it the proper way and is doomed to fail.

Any who though lol again I meant no disrespect, I mean like all of that could come across as such, just having conversation. But good day to you sir, hope all is well with everyone out there and we are all being safe. Putting the sails in the wind in the A.M. Peace
