It's not that he can't its the price he's going to pay being a new entrant and all.......

How much is local can hauling paying anyways. Can't be super high. You'll prob see more $$$ by leasing your equipment to a quality outfit for the time being

Physically can not get insurance. No one will touch a new entrant intermodal, least no one I can find.

Are these brokers saying no or the carriers? Progressive won't touch you, thats for sure. Berkshire would quote you through Pacific Gateway and other Insurence Agents should/would be able to take you to a wholesale carrier. Do your agents have those appointments? If you're doing intermodal and less than 50 miles alongside a set route and a couple years of experience, you should have options. They won't be cheap by any means but by year two a lot of places would loosen up.

Insurance brokers can’t get it done. Set route, own trucks own chassis less than 50 miles radius from base. Least experienced driver has 7 years CDL running ports.

You wouldn’t think it would be that difficult. Working with a guy who thinks he can get it done at $15k per unit. Can live with that.

If he can, I would run with it. Some of that info makes the new venture/DOT less scary. If you and your team keep a tight ship over the year, you could even see lower rates.

It would be interesting to know who he places you with or which carrier the quote comes from.

Maybe become a Landstar agent, then lease your trucks to Landstar, run under their authority.

    Collect money from yourself basically.

You would get money as the booking agent, and then from your trucks running the loads. Yes Landstar would get a cut, but you would collect from both ends.

You could also book extra freight to dole out and collect on that.

This could also work with Ace Doran / Bennett, or any other carriers that use an agent system.

    Just a thought.
