A little background...myself and a friend have talked about doing team driving. We're from Alaska, but are looking to drive out of Phoenix, AZ as we have a place to stay there and I'm not really interested in driving in Alaska, at least for the time being. He has 2 years experience, although he hasn't done it in 2 years. I've never done it and will need to attend school, which could happen in either AK or AZ, still considering both.
Who would you recommend starting out with? Team dry van OTR. I've seen postings from the following that take no experience in the past couple weeks:
Schneider
Knight
CRST
Werner
What are other companies there to consider? I've read a lot of people recommending just getting your experience at the first job and moving on to something better, which is what I plan to do. I also won't have a family to concern myself with on off time. My main concern is money...will getting miles be a concern with any of these companies? Also, wondering about perks in the trucks such as fridges, cable, etc. Who would you recommend? Order of preference? Thanks in advance.
Who to start with? (AZ)

@Chinatown is the guy you want to talk to, and I would say cable is definitely not an option, just a hunch.

TWT Refrigerated Service pays teams .60 cpm which is really good. This company hires new cdl grads. Trucks have all the driver amenities for comfort. Tripac APU etc.
Freymiller runs teams. They'll hire your friend right now then hire you after you complete a cdl school. Trucks set up for driver comfort. Tripac APU, refrigerator, Direct TV hookup.
Celadon pays teams .60 cpm and has their own cdl school.
Your buddy maybe can start right out with only the trucking companies orientation, then you can join him when you graduate.
Edit : Old Dominion Freight Line is about the highest paying for teams. A hard working team can split $225K per year. They hire new cdl grads also. Teams are in demand.
Order of preference:
Old Dominion Freight Line - need doubles/hazmat endorsements
TWT Refrigerated Service
Freymiller
Celadon
Your friend should tell which ever company you go with that he wants teams with you and you'll be there as soon as you finish school.Last edited: Feb 2, 2017

As a driver who used to drive Tucson > Phoenix linehaul runs every single day ,I have to say that you are in the best #### city for trucking that I've ever seen..
Just go to Buckeye/51st area and look at all the options. Every "mega" outfit has a terminal in Phoenix
For teams you can try to work for one of the many Fedex ground contractors which typically only want 3 months experience now days. Also TLI has a team operation pulling Estes doubles terminal to terminal
There are also 3 different schools right on 51st ave between buckeye and lower buckeye
