got pre-hires from Werner, TMC, Maverick, USA Truck, Falcon, Transport America .....any ideas on who to go with? not so much worried bout the money as i am proper training and doing logs. i know Weiner does computerized logs but put them in because i think its where the industry is headed. i like Werner and Usa due to the fact i live close to their terminals and when its time to move on i wont need a busride home.any help would be GREATLY appreciated. >--->

:biggrin_25511: Well if it were me I'd go with TMC after reading all the posts here on the forum and from looking over their web site. It seems they have the best training program around. As for the computerized logs, well if you did go with one of the others and then leave you will still have to go back to paper logs! That maybe the future of trucking but there are alot more companies out there that won't go to that system cause of the costs envolved.

I'm pretty sure your Maverick Pre-hire is now null and void, they're officially on a freeze now. (If you hear differently please let me know!)

There's supposed to be slightly more money (and work) in flatbedding, so TMC would be your top pick in that list.

USA Truck is having a hard time getting people into trucks after training, and so is Werner.

USX is headed for an all-team workforce I think, I know in FL they've given the solo's an opportunity to reapply for their jobs or seek employment elsewhere.

I'm starting with Werner next week, but I'm not happy about it! I'll make do though.

Don't know anything about Falcon or Transport America.

    bowmeyer,

If you're considering any flatbed company, you'd better check to see what they're hauling (if they're hauling) before making a decision. A lot of flatbedders, from what I've heard, are sitting a week at a time, if not more, waiting on loads. In this economy, lumber and building supplies aren't moving... steel and auto parts aren't moving, etc. I considered flatbedding myself, but after talking to other experienced drivers and the management of my school, I decided against it. Personally, I'm heading toward a reefer carrier. Whatever else happens with future economy, people are still going to eat.

    Good luck!

Well that electronics logs really doesnt matter n e more now since they can compare your logs to your gps if you have a qc or other brands. Just about the same thing now just takes longer to do....blah. Next thing you know the DOT will be riding shotgun in all our trucks. :D

According to what a lot of flatbed drivers are saying, they are sitting for great lenghts of time. I would do a little research before I went with one. But, then everyone is sitting at times.

I would stay out of the FLAT BED freight till they put the BUY AMERICAN STEEL embargo in effect until then flatbed freight is slow..

Out of the ones you listed I would probally go with USA TRUCK but thats just out of what you had listed in your orginal post..

Might want to consider reffer freight also:yes2557:
