On X, formerly Twitter, Flightradar24 wrote, "Based on playback, it appears to be a ground collision between a Delta A350 and Delta Connection CRJ-900 that resulted in the vertical and horizontal stabilizer of the CRJ being severed from the aircraft."

Jason Adams, a meteorologist with ABC affiliate station WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida, said he was aboard one of the aircraft. He also shared a series of posts on X that detailed the incident.

"Taxiing out for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and another plane appears to have clipped the back of our plane. Very jarring, metal scraping sounds then loud bangs. We're fine. No fire or smoke. Awaiting @delta instructions," Adams wrote in one post.

    Oh s***,
In the the airline industry that’s definitely what would be called a “career day”!!
As in someone’s career is in jeopardy or effectively over!!!

Yep, and I'd say more than one person for sure.

Yup. The damage to the CRJ-900 is extreme-that plane might be damaged beyond economic repair and might be written off.
And you can’t just buy a new one,Bombardier discontinued production of the CRJ back in 2020 and sold off the production line, rights and everything associated with it to Mitsubishi. And Mitsubishi has no plans to restart production to date, having made its aerospace division defunct last year.

When you force DEI hiring policies, this is the result.

Several airline experts have commented that the smaller jet stopped to far away (about 50') from the taxiway hold line for the active runway and was fouling the taxiway to the rear. The larger plane was taxiing on the correct taxiway and the co-pilot is not able to see the wingtip from the ####pit. Luckily they were both Delta flights and not a competitor airline.

I wonder if this is a mistake on the part of ground control or pilot error.

Well, if there was a truck anywhere nearby, they could blame the truck driver.
