Con-way Freight for over 6 1/2 years now. Pay, bennies, home daily, and an operation/job that has a lot of options and works well for me.

I've been with the same outfit, this summer will be 18 years. Either I like it, or I am a glutton for punishment. When the owner hired me he said I'd last 6 months, so I tease him about that. I've been married 11 years and a month, but since I'm on the road around 300 days a year, I've only been home for about 2 years of it! The wife tells people if I was home all the time she'd have to kill me, I think she's kidding, but don't want to take a chance! She also says she won't play the lotto, cuz if she hit the big one she would have to put up with me full time!

Ain't never quit nor got fired with truckin' but have worked for several companies ... the way that works is I was with Laney Oil for 15 years and the company was bought out by Wendell, stayed with them for 2 years until they were bought out by Eagle and have been with Eagle up to the present day or 7 years which ever way you want to count it. The work is doable, the pay is just fine, I get home every day, get 4 weeks vacation every year and 6 paid holidays and 6 sick leave days every year ... heck, why work, they're almost paying me to stay home now ... couple of more years and I'll just have them mail my checks to the house :biggrin_25526:

Whoops ... an oversight ... I did quit in 86 with Thomas Produce running east-west so I could go to work for Laney ... but that was like quitting on Friday and starting on Monday.

Ive been with lonestar transportation on the heavy haul division since 1995. Great company, great dispatchers and a great safety department. Almost every male and some of the females in the office have driven for years and know how to treat you. The main safety man jimmy drove for over 30 years and moved from a driver to the job he has now, hes a hardass but has your back if you do what your supposed to. Overall i wouldnt go anywhere else

    5 years OTR.
    Going on 6 years LTL.

The 5 years OTR was split amongst 4 different carriers:
Burlington Motor Carriers which went bankrupt in 2002.
Cannon Express in 2003 which went out that same year.
Can-Am...a reefer outfit which thought quality hometime was 30 days on the road.
    Roehl Transport from 2004-2005

I hope I can retire in LTL.
Good wages, good bennies, home every night.
Paid for everything...it doesn't get much better as far as truckin' jobs go.

    JustSonny and jakebrake12 Thank this.
