I guess lonestar it comes down to who has the best heart and most generous soul you've got to do the hard yards first when your starting out some people seem to expect the best from the start, life is full of hard knocks that you have to be willing to except.

By far the worst. It is the way they treat their drivers and lie about pay.

Back in feb. Or early march, my husbands truck broke down in SD. Called CRST, got towed into peterbilt about 100 miles away. No problem then . . . but there were estimates and CRST agreed to pay it up front and them take it back out of the owners settlement. Well after the parts are ordered they then changed their mind and told us, " we were not worth taking a chance on" Then to make matters worse . . .they were just going to leave us in SD over 1000 miles from home and at the time we had over 4000.00 in pay coming to us on the books and over 1000.00 in our repair account and the repair was less than 4500.00 so they were covered.

Not once did they ask if we had heat, shelter or food or even money for it. Two feet of snow on ground.

But the final straw, my husband is not the ower of the truck, he was the driver and now CRST has turned us over to a colletion agency and they are calling us. Per Cynthia this a mistake by Djuna Bullock. How nice for me. They can not fix it right away. And i had to waste an hour of my time trying to get it fixed. The owner could not owe thm anything, he received a final paycheck minus all outstanding fees or dectuctions.

Also no exit interview . . . They know they were in the wrong.

I agree with you. I think you could probably be successful with most of the major companies.

The problem is that most people that start training, never make it to the end. My class started out with 60 people and only 20 were left after 60 days. The rest washed out. Here are some of the reasons:

    -failed the drug test
-can't sleep in a moving truck
    -can't get along with trainer
-don't have the support from family

The problem with trucking is that it is very hard work, you aren't home much and it's dangerous.

Most people just can't do it...

The way I see it is like this:

If you do drugs I certainly don't want you to be driving a Big truck, my family friends and myself are on the road go find another occupation.

If you stick it out long enough you will sleep because your body needs it, I mean you learn to adapt.

Get off your high horse and learn to listen and take constructive criticism and learn from it, instead of being hard to get along with.

If your family doesn't support you then you need to find something else to do.

I am not sure which way this road will lead me, but I intend to stick it out, bite my lip, listen, learn and adapt. One day I may be a O/O or perhaps remain a company driver. There are many road and paths I will cross and I plan to take them one at a time and use the wits God and life has given me to make the right choices.

    BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Hands down. This is the most dishonest trucking company you will ever work for.

I've had 2 encounters with east european immigrants who drive for a company called Kozy's Trucking out of Orland Park, IL.
One guy was backed in next to me at a place in Chicago, and woke me up and held his cell phone and said "you talk dispatch, me english not goot". I was like "WTF!!!" Turns out the guy's truck was having problems. Turn key, nothing happens. So I was nice enough to talk to the guy's dispatcher just to tell him the truck wasn't starting, the location, and the tractor/trailer number. But the dispatcher tried getting ME to fix the truck! He asked me to check a fuse holder above the battery box. Ok, no big deal, I checked the fuse and it was ok. Dude kept asking me to check this, check that, try this, ... etc. Finally I told him I'm not his employee, and to send a repair guy out then I gave the immigrant his phone back.

The other run-in I had with them was at the TA at ex 10 on I-70 in OH. Same thing, east european immigrant who could barely speak English woke me up. There were 2 of them in the truck. They showed me their CAT scale ticket, it was at 10,500 on the steer, 34,400 on the drives, and 33,980 or something on the trailer. He needed help sliding his 5th wheel but it wasn't working and they'd already un-hooked and had been examining the 5th wheel. I took a look at it and noticed immediately that it's an air-slide, and the skinny little air line that goes to the air cylinder that unlocks the pins had a hole in it where it had been chafing on the steel where it passed through a hole in the frame crossmember under the 5th wheel. I don't know why I'm so helpful even when it comes to helping people who can barely speak English, but I ended up wrapping that air line up with duct tape, then put 2 zip ties around it. It still leaked bad, but was able to build up enough pressure in that air cylinder to unlock the pins and get the 5th wheel to slide. I was going to have them re-hook and use the trailer to move the 5th wheel (with the dollies still down) but the younger guy grabbed the filthy, greasy 5th wheel with his bare hands and pushed it forward. Then the older guy flipped the switch to let the pins lock and they re-hooked. Back in my own truck, I observed the younger guy with the 5th wheel grease all over his hands, climb back into the truck and put one hand on the dash & the other on the passenger seat backrest as he went into the bunk. Pure genius these guys were.

we all need to wake up and realize 1 thing---all these companies are out to make money for the company. drivers are just a piece of equipment to them, they use you abuse you then when they are done with you, they throw you out like yesterdays garbage! drivers & trainees are a dime a dozen, the companies know it, they will put more effort into keeping an old piece of crap freightliner running than keeping a driver around. the cost of replacing the truck outweighs the cost of replacing a driver, they will lie to you but it costs them less to replace you than a retread tire would.

    #### straight! Their safety record is so bad you have to watch a video of all the accidents they caused in orientation..per court order! I trained with them and when my trainer informed me I sleep with him or get a preventable (I got the preventable) I was informed by the company that I should have expected that..it was the trucking industry after all. :p Plus I was told I had asked for it because I said i didn't mind a male trainer. *eyeroll*. Yeah people in here tend to rag on Werner but in my opinion nothing can be worse for swift. I could spend an hour complaining about them but my therapist told me to let it go. :biggrin_25511:

This goes to show exactly what I have been saying...what works for one doesn't for another. I would never drive for swift again, and I did not get fired, but if you are having a good time over there..awesome!
