On top of everything else, I got a bill from my accountant telling me that I owe taxes on the money that Transam never paid me. WTF. Their numbers are in line with mine and are about $3300 shy of what I actually made. Stay FAR AWAY!

Do you have direct-deposit? Take those records to the accountant.

If you want to know which companies have the worst or best records don't just rely on heresay. Do your own research!!! No trucking company is going to be absolutely perfect and there will ALWAYS be complainers making things sound worse than it actually is. Most of the trucking companies are the same. Yeah their may be a few really bad ones out there but the point is what may be a HORRIBLE experience for one person may not be the same experience for you or the next person. I truly believe that if you are a good driver, follow the rules and the law then you will not get screwed! But if you are out here horsing around then you will reap what you sow!

You can get the FMCSA rating for ANY trucking company at this website:

    (safer.fmcsa.dot.gov)

I have noticed that Swift has about the SAME satisfactory rating and number of accidents as all the other trucking companies. So they are probably about as good or bad as the rest.

    Hope this helps! :biggrin_25520:

For those of you who want to criticize Swift for hiring new drivers I wonder if any of you stopped to think that maybe Swift ought to be commended for stepping up to the plate and being the one to take a chance on newbies. When I look at stats from trucking companies who hire ONLY experienced drivers I am not surprised that their ratings are lower than the trucking companies that are willing to give a new person a chance. A company is only as good as their drivers. For Swift to be a company known for hiring the inexperienced and STILL manage to keep a satisfactory rating (no matter how "insignificant folks say it is) to me is WAAAAAAAY more impressive than a company who has so called experienced drivers and doing about the same or not much better as a company like Swift. Swift gets a lock of flack from the trucking industry but when I needed a job they were willing to give an inexperienced newbie like me a shot. And anyone who has started off with Swift and have the nerve to turn around and down grade them after getting your licks of experience off them need to remember they had to start from somewhere and if Swift gave them a chance they need to be thanking them not jumping the band wagon with the rest of the complainers. :biggrin_25511:

With all due respect, hiring new drivers is simply part of Swift's overall economic game plan (and Werner's and CRE's, etc., etc.) It's not about giving people a chance.

Again, with all due respect, until you know the full and complete circumstances of each and every "complainer's" case and the myriad lawsuits brought against the carrier, and until you've made it through orientation, CDL school, time with a trainer, and a year or two of your own seat time, please don't be so quick to label people. Take it easy. See how it goes. Put your energy into what you'll need to know for the journey that is ahead of you. As I said on your blog, I hope you enjoy trucking as much as I did. BOL.
