If you never drove for them you shouldn't run them down then.In court I thank that's called hear say and they throw it out.
I thank there is a lot of company's getting bad rap from drivers that never work for them.
kinda like saying you don't like me and you never even shook my hand.
    Also I have 40 year's experience otr.

I understand what you are saying but, you have came to a conclusion about me, you don't know me. You said that wasn't smart thing to say, when I said I would never work for swift, you are assuming that this would be my only recourse. Yes, I love doing the job of trucking, and it has not been and will never be as you said " the profession that I have skills in, and that I won't drive again". Because, I won't drive for swift, "WRONG" How about, having your own truck and trailer that's paid for, would that work for you. Not only is it not, the only career that I am skilled in, it's not the only profession I am educated. It is also not the only business that I've concentrated on while I've been doing so. I always knew that I had to have a back up plan in case there would come a time that I couldn't or chose not to drive anymore. So, in saying this, I have prepared myself for another career. I think outside the Box. I have started my own business, and, it's doing quite well, and, if things take a turn I still have other options. This is why I said never and still will say never. Not, judging anyone, but, all drivers should always think of the possibility of what happens if you have to change, whether it's because of the industry, a health issue, or any reason. I Know we all have to make a living, but, I know I didn't want to be stuck with barely making a dieing, merely existing. As, for the comment about, everyone wasn't born in the seat, yes, this is true. I too had to start somewhere years ago, my comment was base on not the CB but, things I have witness myself and also talking to the SWIFT drivers who had been driving for awhile and the company itself about there training. So, don't think everyone just, makes comments and goes off half ####ed about something. If you remembered I said that they weren't the only company that was bad. I than you for your comment, though, I always say know what you are talking about, before, you decide to talk about it, if not ask questions. Thank you and have a blessed life.

As a 30 year vet in this industry, you too should know that not all comments are base upon hear say. You don't have to drive for a company to think what you are saying. I've experienced several encounters (such as almost being ran off the road by one of their drivers, and being hit in a warehouse parking lot by one of their trainers who didn't stop to look while back in the dock), on the road and face to face talked to the drivers and the company. I also dated a driver that trained and drove for the company, so my comment was not one of ignorance or hear say. As, you said about judging someone, you just did the same thing to me. How, ironic. And, I did say there were several bad companies out there. Thanks and have a blessed life.

    Squzdndmddl,
I capitalized on your comment posted here

and if it seemed like i was singling you out, i wasn't. Just like what you hear, i hear the same thing all over the CB. Phrases that always come after a comment about Swift such as " i will never work for, i wouldn't be caught dead working for, you couldn't pay me enough to work for" ending with the name Swift. What people see on the road or hear about could be due to many reasons, one being training but all company's have accidents with their drivers. Especially those who train their own. Now i thank god for having a brain and was able to learn what i needed to survive on the road with a 40 ton vehicle. But before this i had my own business and the economy ate it up. I lost my job, house and privacy since we had to move in with in-laws. I needed a job and if Pam Transportation didn't screw around with me, i would be driving for them but swift acted faster thus getting me to work much quicker than the 4 months Pam was taking. So i'm just a bit opposite of what you endevure or may in the near future and wish you luck with that.

What it comes down to is this... So many are quick now in days to start a fight on the radio and in some case, have turned to disaster. One man cannot make a difference anymore but many men can. If we can get those who dont share our ideas to elevate their thinking, then maybe the word will get around and actually bring some light to what is quickly becomming a dark profession. We don't need to place blame as we are the ones who already have it from the start. We already have a tough time out there, so we don't really need to make it any harder on ourselves.

If my comments seemed to offend you then i apolgize as i have the utmost respect for not only my elders, but those who know the profession more than I. This thread is very large so i chose to pick one topic that i hope changes at least a few minds about what they might say the next time they are on the radio or maybe even the forums for that matter. I wave at everyone while i drive and ask those who may need help if they want my assistance. It's just my upbringing and you can thank my mom for that.:biggrin_25519: Maybe one day will run into each other. who knows but i welcome it.

I hope my response has made a difference. I wish ya'll safe driving out there and good fortune.

P.S. It seems that maybe the company with the 3C's or even the company with low prices may be some of the best to drive for since i haven't heard about them. lol

I would have to say USX. I drove for them for about 4 years before they finally told us we had to go team, lease or go home. I chose to go home after 4 years of running out for a month at a time. Before that, it was not a bad company to work for. I remember coming into Lexington, NC and noticing all of the new hires waiting for trucks, but I never had a problem with mine, just the whole you have to go team now deal. You would think after 4 years they would let me still run like I have been and leave me alone. Now I have to find another comapny. Oh well, I guess it's the economy. I am now considering buying my own truck, but still undecided at this time.

Ive said it before and I will say it again:

If a rookie wanted to start out flatbedding, Swift's flatbed training course is top notch. Sure, riding with a trainer sux, but this particular trainer also has to show you securement.

When I first got into flatbedding, I drove for Osborn out of Gadsden,AL. I took a short road test, and then I had to work on the yard for a week securing loads. Went to get a coil and basically learned on the fly by watching the other drivers.

Got back on the bigroad and had to go with Swift (never say never). It was a decent gig. Equipment was decent, and dispatch let me run. Swift skateboarders are few and far between and so we would all congregate in Greer,Sc, Gary,In, and Laredo.

I'm sure it hurts some of you guys feelings to call in and have your dispatcher ask for your driver number so he can remember who you are. Doesnt bother me a bit. Dont care what they call me as long as I'm rolling. I keep my personal info to myself anyway.

Swift drivers have provided me with some of the greatest entertainment and some of the scariest moments.
