with the so-called rif-raf will go many other drivers that are innocent victims as they too get snatched up by the states who are using trucks to generate cash in the name of law enforcement.
i figure the government is intent on creating another "crisis" that can only be solved by allowing mexican drivers across the border to run anywhere and everywhere they want to run. that means in this industry, like many others, bye-bye to your job.
as for the rails, a new corridor into mexico is being built as we speak. that means several hundred loads a day off the road. just count the number of rail cans you see on the trains. good for me i suppose since i'm an o-o who pulls cans. bad for me since i want out of pulling cans, but everyone pays less than i make so i'm sorta stuck. -
If Truckers are going to Restore Honor to our Profession then we need as many truckers at Glenn Beck's 8/28 Restoring Honor event this august in DC. I will be there, i hope many will follow & help make this LABOR day the day we take back control of our LABOR. Please help spread the word on ch 19 to anyone who will listen. This is the event, this is the time, this is the place for our voices to join so many others & be heard. Friend me on Facebook if youre interested. Michael.Rachel

The sad thing is, that it's supposed to be about safety. I'll bet anyone of you has looked down to see four-wheelers and their drivers reading newspapers, texting, on the phone, doing their make-up, etc..
And if you got 9 hours instead of 10 hours by your logbook or if your logbook can be found in some way inaccurate, any accident will be charged to the driver. Does this make sense?
We should be reporting these drivers on the roads....see how long the people of this land would put up with it if their driving habits were scrutinized. Ah, try that. They will tell you they have to catch them in the act.
Had a lady tell me a story of her trainer working out drug deals. She tried to report him, but they said they couldn't do anything because her word is heresay. Safety? Please.
Morality cannot be justified by laws. Neither can common sense. I fail to see where someone should sit after a 5 hour nap that they can't drive 15 miles to a consignee because of the HOS. I fail to see where five hours of waiting around not sleeping makes it any safer. That being said, I obey the HOS rules, but, I still question their ability to make things safer in all cases. But really, who is actually in the sleeper berth getting sleep all the time they log they are?
If safety was an issue, they would make more rest areas with facilities in some areas of this country. Somehow, I think the ones making the rules have never done the job....maybe it's just me.

Now, i have no problem with states doing things like making the Rest Areas on I-80 in Indiana (trucks only, no facilities). Atleast its somewhere to park.I've parked in them a few times after the service plazas were full.
However, most states are closing everything. Cant park in weigh stations that are closed/shut down, etc.
The other day, i was in tennessee and drove past a rest area..big sign "NO TRUCKS"..lookd to the other side of the highway, apparently the other direction has a big truck paking area in the rest area..wtf?
And i passed one recently that said "CLOSED" and had locked up gates in front of it. ########. #### them. -
It has always been (who cares about the Truck Driver, their bottom feeders) I've never heard ahything where they had actually done anything meaningfull to truely help the common Truck Driver.

This IS about Fighting for EQUAL rights in the workplace. There is going to be an event held in DC on 8/28. Truckers should spread the word to be there and voice our opinions & concerns. Basiclly, since trucking has been deregulated workers have not had any protection under any law & could be abused by management for over 20 years. All Im saying is delete the trucking excemtion from the FAIR LABOR ACT so we can be EQUAL employees of a company with non driver employees & enjoy the same RIGHTS as they do. -
way too much money has been spread around to make sure that it never happens.
The whole point of the csa 2010, the declining wage for the average truck driver, the no idle laws, more strict medical card standards are designed to do 1 thing. Get rid of any driver with any experience and replace him with a rookie that will be the same job 4 less money and fewer benefits while creating less aggravation for management.sammycat Thanks this.
