Insurance company will send an adjuster out to take a look at it and determine if it is totaled or not. Any insurance company isn't going to just take your word for it and cut a 75k check.
More than likely Wal-Mart doesnt own the building, they are just a tenant. Also more than likely is a sign that says No Truck Parking - if the manager is a nice guy / girl they typically do not mind if an occasional trucker needs to park there. However they are not responsible for theft in there parking lot of a truck, especially if one wasn't shopping there.
Is Lloyds the insurance company for the Cargo or the Physical Damage? Lloyds policies are typically known to have less coverage and more exclusions than some of your other big name players. I would read the policy and then see if you are entitled to downtime though the physical damage section of the policy also carries a deductible as well. When the tow yard said they had your tractor and you or your company didn't come up with the $550 to get it out you couldn't claim downtime at that point. Downtime only covers lost profits, not the gross figure. Keep in mind your insurance guy is only the broker, if Lloyds pays you $0 or $10,000 it doesnt affect him in any way, so I do not think he is going to sheet one way or the other.
Although it is a boring read I would recommend getting a copy of the policy and reading it thoroughly, take notes on questions that you have, and circle back with your insurance guy. More than likely you will be surprised what is covered and what isnt especially with a Lloyds policy. Ratings of an insurance company ( Lloyds is A rated ) means they have the financial ability to pay claims - it does not mean that every claim is covered. Many people often make the wrong assumption.
With that being said I wish the best of luck to you - in order to get back out there I would pay the $550, get your truck / trailer back and get going....read the policy and see what you think. Look at deductibles and exclusions. See if downtime has a 72 hour waiting period before kicking in and talk to the adjuster. They typically will answer questions honestly and let you know what you are entitled to. Let us know what happens.
Why am I being punished for my truck being stolen?

Florida has one of the hottest theft rings in the southeast. Its unfortunate you got it raw... Not much you can do but lick you wounds and learn from this. If I was you, I'd install a switch that will disable the ignition... they can steal it if they can't start it and it could be as simple as installing a toggle switch or using one or a combination of a couple switches on your dash if you have a couple spare switches. Also, maybe some type of air cut off valve on your supply side. Can't go anywhere if ya can't release the brakes, right ? You can make your truck #### near theft proof for less then $20
On the bright side, you got your truck and can back... Something to think about, chances are its organized gang related, but whether it is or not, they probably have been watching you. for a while. I assure you this wasn't a spur of the moment theft.Semi Crazy Thanks this. -

As an O/O, you need to be more savvy in this business. Curious, what was in the container ? If it was a high value load especially, leaving it un-attended at Wal-Mart is dumb. Not trying to rag on you. Next, get your truck out of impound. The tow company needs to be paid. Somehow, someway, you need a bankroll for emergencies like this. What if you blew two tires ? No money to buy new ones ? Good luck.

Why are you parking at Walmart? Rent a secure spot. Get an air cuff lock for when you do leave your tractor. Florida is big on cargo theft, so you have to take a bit of precaution. Bail your truck out and insurance will cut you a check for what you pay. This will be an expensive lesson. I park in a locked yard with cameras off OBT in South Orlando, find something similar.

Two things if you EVER leave your truck unattended outside your terminal, a locked yard, or your personal property:
1) Never go directly from your truck to another vehicle and leave.
2) Never walk directly from the property somewhere else.
Thieves may look for easy prey, but if they see you hop right into a four-wheeler at a walmart, they know that vehicle will be unattended for a while. If they see you walk straight away from the property, they know you're not shopping.
The few times I leave my truck either at a truck stop, a store, etc. I always close my curtains), hop out, and walk straight inside. Then (at a truck stop) walk through the fuel entrance and out the car entrance. If I'm at a Walmart or another store where I'm taking a bit of a leisure break, walk into the store, and then leave out either through another entrance, or try not to appear to be the same one.
Even at truck stops, I'm amazed at the 'locals' that park, and have a four-wheeler pull up to their truck, toss their bags in, lock it, and leave for the night. Easy way to see who won't be there when their personal belongings are raided.
