No, it isn't.
The key is to have a good run. Prior to this year I was in the position of agreeing with your statement though.
Why are day cab guys always sleeping?

The OTR guys have an advantage in that they can shut down and sleep wherever they park.Cody1984 Thanks this. -
Running local is great, running otr is bull crap, running a good dedicated run that keeps you out 2 nights a week is the best.
I'll nevery run the 48 ever agian but I've worked some terrible local night runs.
It's all about what works for you, personally I like a shower, but that's just me.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 30, 2015

Trust me some local jobs are the worst like starting at 10pm and working til 2pm running sand and stone but i also had a great job pulling scrap local and could make 100,000, of course all good things come to an end.

Yes well I ran about 9 or 10 years otr so I've seen all I want to, been everywhere I want to go and I like my own home and a good drink of gin. For some of the young ones I can understant the wanderlust. I've got my fill.
Cody1984 and poppapump1332 Thank this. -
All I was going to say after reading the OP was you see them sleeping over the wheel because, wait, hold on....................THEY DON'T HAVE A SLEEPER. What do you think all those other drivers parked in the rest area are doing? Exactly the same thing you pulled in there for, taking a nap in their sleeper.
If your worried about the day cab guys catching a nap over the wheel go over, knock on the door and offer to let them use yours. At least that way you won't see them sleeping over the wheel.S M D Thanks this. -
Lol. In my day cab I was able to put a yoga mat on the floor and bring a pillow and let me tell you I could sleep for hours.
Then I started bringing two pillows and my ice chest, I would put the pillow on the ice chest and the my back on it "between the seats" then my legs On the passenger seat and top half on th driver seat and that is when I realized I could otr with a day cab if I had to, Hahah but, I also use to get so tired at around 5am (start at 230am) that keeping my eyes open wasn't the problem it was keeping my brain from shutting down so,when I would pull into rest areas I'd be asleep with. A minutelagbrosdetmi and catalinaflyer Thank this. -
Done the "sleep in a daycab" routine more than once, with a piece of plywood between the seats, a moving pad for the mattress, pillow and blanket.

I work nights 2pm-2am 12+ hours per day 5 or 6 days per week. I'm never tired on the job and never take naps. My secret? No wife, no kids, just peace and quiet...
GenericUserName, poppapump1332, Cody1984 and 1 other person Thank this.
