I work at Suncoast Resources hauling crude one to two loads a day on 20 an hour. Average day consists of 10 hour days. But if I look at the next town over...Georgewest Tx, their water haulers start at 22 lol!!

You are the first driver I know of not happy with Sun Coast. I have an ap in with them. I thought hourly pay would be better that sitting and waiting to unload for free.

Wow, that seems low for crude. You do get your benifits covered 100% so that's a plus.

Rates for crude drivers are dropping... more competition, and the new guys come in and undercut the rate to get the work....

Common advertised wages for crude hauling in Wyoming is 18 to $20 per hour now. Water, $16-18 per hour...

Thats crazy lol!! First driver?? You havent done your research have you Chibob??? Suncoast's turn over rate is pretty high. The only thing they have going for them is this guarentted pay which no loner exist making the company the bottom of the barrel. Thats why I told you of other companies in the area you should really look into. Ive had many vertern tanker drivers explain to me when a person thinks hourly is better they're new to the industry. Get paid by the load is actually better.
But what do I know right???????? Like I tell everyone youll see what I mean once you start....

True on that part but like I tell alot of the guys; benifits are like insurance. I pay and never use them so for me personally thats irrelavant to the situation. And yes that is low. As I said before, getting paid by the load is hell of alot better. If your gonna get paid by the hour, you at least want to start at a min. of 23 dollars an hour

    Ben Gunn Thanks this.

That's true. We had a lot of drivers here getting paid by the hour. They outright rejected management's pressure to move drivers to % of the load pay. I was making the lowest hourly wage here since I didn't have a lot of experience so I went for it and it worked out great. Most who rejected it seem happy now they are on % of the load pay too. The ones who still hate it were the ones milking the clock or fluffing up their hours. Some like to stop at every truck stop and chill, etc. If you do that on % of load then it isn't that great of a deal but if you run hard and keep your equipment in good shape you will do well.
