Having done that both on a t600 (3406e) and w900 (c15) recently, theres no difference.
on a pete, probably is easier given the same motorLoneRanger and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
What do you think is the ideal amount of weight on the front for the best ride?
-
there’s no reason to turn any tighter then a standard Pete/kw does…. Unless of course you are not paying for tires or suspension parts, then I’m sure you don’t care…Roger McG, black_dog106, Rubber duck kw and 1 other person Thank this.

I’ve posted this in past but there was a time when all trucks got about the same fuel mileage so it only made sense to get a truck that had better fit and finish plus looks
I think Peterbilt and KW fit that profile
But nowadays when there are other models getting almost double The MPG in some cases than those hoods you have to really think if you want looks or $$ in the bank
I spend about 30% less in fuel than a 379/389 and I’ve been able to put just enough lipstick on my pig to make it look nice enough to drive all the while allowing me to buy my Harleys or other vehicles
Sure. If fuel mpg was the same across all trucks I’d have that hood but that’s no longer the case
In the end it’s just a hammer in my toolbox -
Oh yeah, a Pete is more of a state of mind thing, not the best( KW) or the toughest( older Macks), I'm a small fellow, so I liked the small cabs, but bigger drivers have an issue with that. Electrics are a nightmare, and my Pete was too long(262 wb) and actually took weight OFF the steer axle sucking it up. If I was close on max weight, a constant issue with rail cans, I just went around the scale,,,not advised today. To be clear, the nicest riding truck I drove was a Century class FL, the Pete was just down right cool. Too bad it didn't make me any richer.Bean Jr. and LoneRanger Thank this.

In my experience the more I load up the front the better it rides. I have a 13,200 steer axle now and run 12,700 all the time, it rides better there than at 12,000. I don’t slide it up anymore because it looks dumb with the trailer up any farther. My old 4 axle with the 20,000 steer rode much better loaded to max than it did with 15,000.
Maybe wheelbase plays a bit in it too? I’ve always had long wheelbase trucks, other than my little Volvo which is only 212” and rides like #### because of it. -
About 75% of rated capacity.

Interesting, I'm not entirely sure what the rating is on mine in my W9 but empty sitting about 10,500 on it it'll feel like it's riding on the front axle like a wheel barrow if you get what I'm saying. It's a little better loaded.

it’s not your money until you pay taxes on it, of which, fuel is a 100% write off. If I were moving my own freight with several trucks, it would be different.
a harbor freight and a snap on hammer are both hammers, but they are not the same…
I never get more then 11020 on my steer whether empty or 40 ton in the wagonRoger McG, exhausted379 and Rubber duck kw Thank this.
